9¶But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Always ask ' chosen for what '?. . The same for the word ' Elect ' . elected to do what ? The above verse 8immediately tells you what they have been chosen to do or be .
A saint is someone who has believed the Gosp
When ever it says ' chosen ' it is about what purpose we have been chosen to do or be AFTER we are saved .

In Ephesians 1 We have been Chosen in Him for what ( that's the question to ask ) ? to be Holy and blameless ect.
All those that have believed the Gospel FOR ?
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7¶In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ok According to Ephesians 1.5 what are we predestined to ? to the Adoption . When is the Adoption ? this is the error most folks make . They think this Adoption is when we first are saved . But read Roman's 8 .23 and ask when is the adoption?
23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
So ephesians 1 is not about being Gnostically hand picked before we are even born , to be saved later by being zapped awake ( frozen chosen ) . The predestination here is believers after they are saved ( in real time ) are guaranteed future Adoption. But this is not granted to lost uncreated people before they are born in a mysterious secret gnostic unconditional election in the mind of God but a blessing given to those who are alive who believed the truth so as to be saved.

Do you believe in regeneration precedes faith ? which is also calvernism alone .

Eternal life ( in the sense Jesus meant ) had to be recieved. This life is in Jesus . Thus all those ' in Christ ' have eternal life and this life cannot be lost or taken from you. OSAS
Have you ever "received" a pat on the back? There's no act of the will involved in that. Received a letter?

In Gods mind ? no where in the bible does it say you were selected in Gods mind before you existed to be saved .
notice here what the bible says your position was before you were saved ( an enemy of God and lost .
11¶Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” Ephesians 1:4 (KJV 1900)

Notice in 2 thes 2 .13 please read again and ask what ' beginning ' ? in the beginning when ? it doesnt say before the foundation of the world does it ? you see ' beginning and somehow imagine that's the beginning of time .
13¶But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
the ' beginning is when Paul first preached the Gosepl to them. they are fearful. They believe they have possibly missed the Lords return because of a false letter . They are suffering intense persecution..So paul comforts them by reminding them from the beginning they are going to be ok they are chosen ( for service) to salvation BY SANCTIFICATION OF THE SPIRT AND BELIEF OF THE TRUTH .
in other words fear not your ( final ) salvation is secure through when ( in the beginning you believed the truth and were sanctified ( set apart) and chosen for this purpose after you believed.
Are you saying God has a beginning and end?

We are only Chosen in Him before the foundation of the world ( Ephesians 1 ) question is : When do we become in Him ? I believe this is not before we are born . We are only in him when we believe.
Jesus says whoever believes has eternal life. = Always saved in God without beginning or end. Brought into the experience in time through the new birth and the faith it produces.

That's faulty reasoning because salvation is a free gift . A gift is recieved . The atonement is recieved not when Jesus died on the cross . We were all still list when Jesus died on a cross . we were still lost when he was buried and when he resurrected on the third day . So when did you recieve the atonement? After you believed.

Faith is the access point to the grace. It pleased God ( His choice ) by the foolishness of the preaching to save those ..that were awoken and regenerated first in order they could believe? no ..it is to save those that believe . Believe is the 'condition ' God sovereignly chose to save sinners .

But only the born again have faith. It's a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

The new birth is a miracle that opens eyes causing us to believe.
