Well, Jon-Marc! We enjoy the spring more for having gone through the winter... just as one enjoys the mountain top much more after having gone through the valley. :saint:

We are watching the movie "Jacob" and then it's time for bed. We have been watching DVD's about Bible characters. Usually two a week. They have been very scriptural - surprised me, but I am really glad! It brings the characters to life for Brent so he doesn't see them as that much differently than we are today.

Pleasant dreams all!

Good morning all,

I hate to answer my own posts, but it seems everyone else went to bed early and are sleeping late...

It is 28º and will not get much warmer today. We are expecting snow, rain, freezing rain and sleet - all in one day tomorrow.

I'm thankful my kids will be here safe and sound instead of on the road. They are doing their traveling today and will both be here for the basketball game tonight.

I have some chores to do before they get here and probably a run to the grocery store. I'm not sure what their schedules are, but they usually eat at least one meal with me.

Time to take Brent to school.

Good Morning Everybody,

The Hot Chocolate is on me this morning Sue. It's 13 degrees with a windchill of 6. We have a Winter Storm Warning from Saturday am thru Sunday pm. Sure wish spring would hurry.

Breakfast this morning is Pizza for Breakfast, Mini-Sticky Pecan Buns, and Sausage Oatmeal Cups. Enjoy.

Today is chores, Doctor's appts, errands, lunch out, and finish grocery shopping [ I got distracted by some fresh produce the other day  ]

I'd just as soon have a winter storm warning instead of the severe weather warning we have on us for this weekend. Looks like the same system is bringing ya'll snow and ice and us t-storms and tornados. Time to invest in a new weather radio.

Speaking of electronics, I also have to get a new clock radio. Yesterday morning, ours didn't go off at all. This morning it went off and T hit the snooze button, but it didn't go off again. Good thing I have a good internal clock that wakes me up a 6 every morning! (clock goes off at 5 cause it takes me some time to get my joints moving)

Today will be spent getting out all these pageant dresses to the girls. Lets hope everything goes smoothly.

Good morning, folks.

Snow yesterday and an occasional flake still sifting through the fog as I look out the window here. Most of it melted as the day warmed up yesterday so it's only patchy. Rain to continue through the next five days at least and if it gets cold enough down here on the valley floor, that means snow. We had to cancel Bible Study on Wednesday night because over half our people were snowed in (they live at slightly higher elevations).

I've never seen snowflakes coming through fog before. This is pretty!

It's been a crazy, hectic week. Our website is inaccessible to us at the moment because Verio is changing IP's. So we can't even get our website email, which is frustrating (but peaceful...LOL). A friend was over last night and we are switching servers, so that will take a few days, I think and hopefully we should be up and running again by Monday or Tuesday. I have finished formatting Barry's article and want to get it up on the net.

Today is our day off. Gina will watch Chris and after I get out there (it's very late, and I apologize to the horses...) to feed the animals, we are free to laze about, nap, read, do whatever we want like normal 'old people' for a few hours. That is such a blessed relief every week.

Chris discovered he could open the top of the cannister where I keep the brown sugar this week. Should I say more? Maybe just that it took about an hour to clean up? The dogs loved it, though, and so did Chris! He was totally giggling.

So I'll get going now and get the few chores done that need doing, and then kick back and take my sabbath rest.

God bless you all.

Hey all! Just got back from working at church. The Sunday service is all set up - but the sermon in PowerPoint needs some fine tuning, I think. But this week it's our associate pastor who's preaching and he knows how to do it. He usually does his own but asked me to help him out today since he was behind

So now it's almost 3 PM and I'm just relaxing at the computer with my lunch. I've got leftovers from pasta night - yum!! Tonight the girls will be at a lock-in at church so DH and I will put the kiddies to bed and shut down the computer early. ;) Unfortunately some of that time will be icing down his foot and massaging it - he was putting in ceiling tiles at church and carrying them up the flight of stairs from the saw outside. That kind of work is NOT good when you have a crippled foot.

OH! I had my evaluation at physical therapy today and my right hand is measurably stronger! Yeah!! I was able to squeeze to 28 lbs. when I first started and today measured 38 lbs! My other hand is 55 lbs. so I still have a ways to go but that's really good!! I'm SO not regretting doing this surgery and have encouraged 2 people to atleast get a checkup to see how they were doing (they both have been complaining about carpal tunnel for months).

Evening all,

About 30 of us went to Wendy's after the basketball game...

I was good though. I had a fish sandwich, strawberry yogurt and a Diet Dr. Pepper.

BTW, we won the game.

I'm going to bed. Tomorrow morning I am frying chicken, making mashed potatoes and milk gravy, and scalloped corn (per request). I'm also baking a cake for lunch tomorrow when Bob and his family come over.

Pleasant dreams all!

Good morning all,

It's 26º this morning and we are under a 'flood watch'. We're supposed to get ½ inch of rain and with all the snow that melts, I think we might be 'in for it'...

Busy morning, so will check in later.

Good Morning Everybody,

I agree Sue. We're right in the path of a bullet. Now I think I understand why my neighbor was building a big boat, and there sure are a lotof pairs of animal hanging around here. Wonder what that means?

Today I feel completely useless. :tear: We have to have a new starter on our car, and my skills in Mortuary Science, and Cooking are completely worthless for changing a starter. I'm the kind-of-guy who changes his oil with a credit card. This is why I don't often mention that I like to cook to other people.

Being able to work on cars is a lot more useful than saying you can prepare a formal dinner.

I brought in sausage gravy and biscuits this morning.

Time to get the car in to someone who can fix it.

Today is big laundry day for me. I NEED to catch up from my surgery almost 6 weeks ago - I've let it slide and everyone's hampers are overflowing, so it's time to get with the program. DH is going to hopefully move up the light fixture in the 1/2 bathroom so that he can then close up the hole from the medicine chest and get it all spackled and done in the next few days so we can paint and maybe get the bathroom done next week!!

OK - I need all of your decorating advice. I need to decide on what paint color to use in the bathroom. It's a 1/2 bath - 3 feet by 6 feet, door on one of the long walls, toilet to the left, sink to the right. Here is the sink and faucet we bought:

http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecata...=177702&prod_num=2294-1&section=2&category=16

and here's the mirror - yes, it's black

https://www.consumerswarehouse.com/shop/default.aspx?store=bathroom&catcode=DGB&prodID=PAEM2531

We have a sand colored tile on the floor and will have wainscotting on the lower 1/2 of the wall - it's white right now but we CAN paint it. What color would you do on the wall?? I'm stumped.

Thanks for your ideas!

My goodness, Rob! People have different skills! You seem to ignore one of yours that is so popular here on BB -- you have a way of making the reader smile; even laugh out loud. That is fantastic! And please remember the most famous chefs in the biggest restaurants are almost always male... being a grease 'monkey' does not make you masculine! I'm quite sure your wife would agree with us!

Hi Ann! Remodeling can be fun, actually! OK, on colors. Choose your favorite color -- the one that makes you feel relaxed, or smile, or whatever it is, and paint the walls above the wainscoating a very pale shade of that color. Then you can use towels and accessories which have a darker shade of that color or complimenting colors and you will always enjoy being in that room. About the laundry, yup, I know....for me folding it was the hardest part for at least a month, as it required a dexterity my hand was not willing to offer that soon after surgery! Today it's back full force, though.

Timotheus -- welcome back! Yeah, the old place has changed a lot, but a lot of the same people are here. Enjoy.

Hi Sue! Stand on a chair; the water won't reach you then.... I"m sorry....I couldn't help it....:BangHead:

OK I have a story to tell -- on me. Yesterday I stubbed my big toe on my right foot REALLY badly. Badly enough so the sheets hurt when I got into bed last night. So I took half of one of the sleeping pills I had been given a supply of last summer after my surgery (at the rate I'm going through them, a month supply will last at least ten years!) and some OTC painkillers. Evidently I got wound up in my dreams. At least, Barry told me he was in hysterics laughing in the middle of the night. I don't remember a thing, but evidently here is the way it seems to have unfolded as he told it to me this morning:

Barry: I love you (after he got back in bed after getting up sometime after midnight)
Me: I love you as a general principle.

I then evidently looked at him, grinning really big and started to wipe my teeth hard.

Barry: What are you doing?
Me: I'm trying to get the click clacks off my teeth.

By this time Barry is starting to chuckle, realizing I am sound asleep.

Me: I can't believe I said that! Maybe you should continue these conversations and see where they lead!

I was still sound asleep.

Barry was howling with laughter.

About a year ago, under similar circumstances but with no sleeping pill in me, he had told me he loved me and I informed him I would consult my attorney about that!

I think he married me for amusement's sake?

Rainy here; expected to continue for the next week. No problem. This is Oregon!

God bless you all.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing, Helen?? ;)

That story is hysterical!! Who ever said marriage was boring!! Thanks for making me laugh this morning!

Thanks for the welcome Helen. It is good to see familiar faces from the past. I remember yours. Weren't you involved with creation, science, or something of that sort? BTW, sorry to hear about your toe. It must be painful. Enjoyed reading your midnight sit com. You really need not to mix medicine......

Yes, for several years here I was a moderator of both the women's forums and the creation/evolution forum. The latter was hard work because it required daily babysitting to keep the acrimony and insults to a manageable level! When we got ready to sell the house in California and move to Oregon, I became much too busy for all that and resigned as moderator. At that point the cre/ev forum was moved to 'read only' down below.
I was off the board entirely for awhile as life 'off screen' was reasonably hectic. But we are settled in now and although I am too busy to do anything as time-consuming as moderating, but it is fun to keep up with the board a bit.

Again, welcome back and God bless (you will find some cre/ev stuff in the 'other Christian Denominations' area.)

Thanks Helen. Sometimes I just need to whine a bit.

The new starter is on the car, and IF the ice isn't too bad tomorrow we'll be in church. Sometimes I think the weather forecaster is guessing just like the rest of us.

I decided to have dinner from the crockpot today because I didn't know how long the starter was going to take. Ribs in Red Wine [in the crockpot], Cheesy Smashed Potatoes, Harvest Salad, and Triple Bliss Chocolate Cake.

Maybe I can't change a starter, but I think the church will enjoy what I take tomorrow. It's easier for me to "fine tune" a main course than an engine.

Thanks for the compliment Helen my dear friend, but I'm just a cook, not a chef. A chef would look at my pitiful attempts at cooking and snort, then laugh uncontrollably.

Please be careful with mixing medications. You never want to take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Awwwww, thank you, son. :love2:

And welcome to the CH! We have good food in here too, but you have to let your imagination work overtime to enjoy it.

It's one of the hardest milestones I've ever had to reach, and I fight with it daily, but it will lessen - day by day. I'm an overcomer in Jesus and, with His help, we will conquer this too. :godisgood:

Good morning all,

It is 39º and cloudy. We are expecting rain, freezing rain, then snow. Temps are supposed to drop today instead of rising, so I guess 39º is our high. :BangHead:

Time for hot chocolate!
