Toasted cheese samwiches ALWAYS work! Especially, when served with cream of tomato soup!

My oldest daughter, Laura, is down from Indiana visiting today and will be spending the night, so I will not be back on here until tomorrow.

I'm sure that will make some of you very :( and some of you very :D !!!

§ue (will give up anything, including the BB, to visit with my kids and grands!)

Am I the only one who is having odd happenings on the board? Last active thing I show is from 10:00 this morning! I've closed out and come back several times! Maybe Bellsouth is in a TIME WARP!

I hope you get to feeling better, Jim. My 15 year old granddaughter was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 6 years old. Her mother recognized the symptoms and they started treatment before it became more serious.

She was in the hospital a week when she was six, but has done very well with treatments and has been a part of some test trials at the University Hospital. She did have problems when she was on a cruise to Alaska with her other grandparents. They thought they were going to have to mediflight her to a hospital, but the doctor on the ship knew what to do.

Hope everyone is having a great day and keeping warm.

Oh Betty, that's awful! I hate to hear of young ones with Juvenile Diabetes because of how very serious that is. Seems like your family has more than their share of horrible health problems.

So, I'm wondering why our house is getting so chilly.... and discover the last time Nick 'got some toys' to take outside, he left the back door wide open~ Kids!

Good News and Bad News...

I had hoped to be able to supplement Jim's new job by working a few days a week at the Corn Stove Store but the owner just called with his good news. One of the ladies I had shown a 'booth' in his store has rented space and beginning in March, she'll be there 6 days a week til 5:00 p.m. Good for him but bad for me. However, my friend who owns the Antique Store has mentioned she'd be having me come and work HER hours during the spring and summer when they're away at their Florida home. She pays me $10. an hour. I can work half the time there and make the same amount of money but she is usually only one half day a week.

Got to put on my thinking cap and just pray for God to bless Jim's new job, right??

That's sweet, Diane, but we have no more problems than any other family. For the most part we are all in good health. My granddaughter handles her illness very well, being active in diabetes camps, as a participant and counselor. The only thing she dislikes is for someones to treat her differently or special because of her diabetes.

God does take care of His children.

Hi Betty,

I spend some time counselling with families whose child is newly diagnosed with Diabetes. I try to show them that the biggest problem is with the adults who fear the unknown. The children usually adapt quite well.

Diabetes can get out of control, even when you do all the right things. I have been in a coma once and, as you might know by now, my strokes were brought on by Diabetes. My arm and hands are affected by both the Diabetes and the strokes, which left both hands paralyzed. At these times, the arms and hands weigh a tonne, but one manages.

Other than this, my life is quite ordinary. Everyone in the village knows my state and are always on the watch for me. The Corner Shop even bakes muffins and tells all the staff which ones I may have. I don't take my cane preaching anymore cos one time I threw it at the congregation and everyone in the front pews had to duck fast.

Cheers,

Jim

LOL Jim! On purpose?? Reminds me of something Dr. Bob or someone told us about a preacher who lost his false teeth during a sermon. They flew out and hit a woman on the first few rows.

Well - I must say - there has been some interesting posts since I was here this morning.

Went to my mother's today - did a small wiring job for her - then did her taxes!

Everyone - have a great tomorrow!

Dan - just bubbling!

Speaking of taxes... we need to get our paperwork sorted. A business in the next town does ours for only $40. since we've been with them since they opened. We have a LOT of papers because of Jim working for himself but they do it REALLY fast.

Well I'm exhausted tonight. Got my lesson studied and some papers for the parents done. I send home a list of the Bible verses my 4 year olds will be 'learning' each month so the parents can be involved. I also ironed our clothes and have everything ready to make tomorrow morning run smoothly. Nick's going forward tomorrow. He's SO excited! He's told all our neighbors and called our relatives. Anyone who says more than 'Hi' gets a full account of his asking Jesus into his heart! He's a bold little boy when it comes to Jesus. He wants to ask if he can make an announcement during prayer request time in his Sunday School class. Neat huh?

So, It's pretty quiet here tonight and I'm so sleepy. I think I pulled a ligament or hurt a tendon in my arm at work the other day. There's a BIG iron pipe that you put through two slots to 'lock' the back door. I had to take it down and put it back up several times and once I only used one arm because I was taking a phone call as the owner was banging on the back door for me to come and open it. Ouch! Took some aspirin and just can't wait to crawl in bed! I guess that means I'm out of shape! LOL

Diane!!! I'm excited about Nick receiving Jesus as his Savior and Lord! My girl, Rachel prayed to receive Jesus last week and made her Profession of Faith this past Sunday!!! She wants her Grandparents to come visit and watch the baptism---pray that they'll get a chance---they visit but not often---she really wants them to come and see her being baptised---I told Rachel that its one thing to share the Parsonage with her---its quiet another thing to share Heaven and eternity with her!!! Miriam and I are excited and I know that you and Jim are too!!

Hope your arm gets to feeling better!!! It'll probably stay sore for a couple of days and then begin to feel "normal" again---Blackbird is also a Physical Education major---Is there ANY thing Blackbird can't do?????

Your Southern Baptist preachin' buddy,
Blackbird

Boy howdy, all. Alone again, naturally. Just the wife (who is ready for bed after an exhausting day) and me. The house survived.

So did Grandpa!

Well, turning down the fire to a nice bed of coals so that the Coffee House will stay warm until the sun rises in Europe.

Will put on the water for tea and leave the light on for the rest. After a couple days run ragged with grandkids, I'm off to bed early.

Will "read myself to sleep", one of my great joys, waking in the middle the night to turn off the light and take the tome off my chest.
