    Good morning all:

    It was a short and restless night. I still have a 'sour' tummy. I think I lifted too much yesterday and ate pizza too late last night. :eek:

    Another beautiful day here.

    Good Morning Everyone! I SEE you. [IMG]
    I had a great night except for a wrong number at 12:15. :eek: THAT'S why I usually take my phone off the hook at night. I've got 3 phones that won't let you turn off the ringers.

    The children I'm keeping for a church mom for 10 weeks during the summer are coming over this afternoon. I've had Christian in S/S this year but they've not ever been to our house.

    I am shocked at what I'm seeing! We have those paneled doors and I noticed one of them in my bathroom has dust in the corners of the panels. I saw dust on the edge around my microwave too. The pine pollen is 'finished' for the year so I can start spring cleaning for real. We're supposed to start the back yard this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. Jon's off so I'm hoping I can get him to cut down those smaller trees I've marked. I'd love to leave them all but these will never grow very large under the big trees already there AND too many trees are a 'welcome sign' for mosquitoes.

    Jim got me two casual outfits for Mother's Day and got some really good steaks for the grill. Now that's MY kind of Mother's Day. [IMG] We got my mother a cell phone on our plan so she can call me day or night. The phone she has now can only be used for 'free' after 10:00 my time because of her current time zone.

    Well Jim's at work, Nick's had breakfast and my bed is made. Time to get busy.

    Diane, you are too funny. Now you know you're supposed to use that new found vision to look at good things...flowers, children, good friends, your hubby...

    I started a thread on the Women's Public Forum about Mother's Day. Tell us how your day will be special, or share a story about a past Mother's Day.

    Praise the Lord for His blessings, big and small.

    Hi Sue off to do the papers and the all seeing Diane! [IMG] [IMG]

    I was off to the country to see the grandkids. Also managed to clean the property of all the dead branches the wind broke off during the winter, so that we could cut the grass. In between work we had fun visiting the local places of interests - like the water overflow from the lake our country house is built at. The kids were looking at the ducks frolicking at the water fall and I dared to ask them to look over to me..... [IMG] Their reaction caught on the digital camera. It was great do be outdoor today! Hope you all had a nice day and looking forward to be in the house of the Lord tomorrow! And you ladies, be sure you have a great Mother's Day! [IMG]

    Cute picture Barnabas!

    I am retiring for the night. It has been a productive day planting tomatoes in the garden, laying stepping stones, and hanging birdhouses and feeders.

    Night all and pleasant dreams!

    Good Morning and a Happy Mother's Day to all!

    What precious grandchildren children, Barnabas. They seem to be having a wonderful time. I do notice jackets tho!

    It's to be 82° here for the next few days before some showers. I hope we can get some more done today, outside. Jim had to work quite late yesterday so we ate supper as soon as he got in. :eek: He didn't have any time to help in the yard.

    We've just about decided to switch to first service permanently at church. It's hymns and more traditional. Second service is singing 'I exhault thee' 40 times followed by 'Oh Lord' and then starting over. [IMG] I want Nick to know the old hymns. [IMG]

    Take it from me, Diane!! You will not "go wrong" teaching Nick the old hymns----have him check out some books for Homeschool report and report on bios of Fanny Crosby---probably the all time greatest hymn writer in modern church history!! Also, B B McKinney----just have Nick read the hymns outloud and see for yourselves how much great theology when into those old hymns!!! In my home church in Baton Rouge---we use to have "Fanny Crosby Day" and sing all of her hymns---and then another time we'll have "B B McKinney Day"---so forth and so on!!

    Thanks, Diane!! You made my day by posting that!!!

    Right you are, David. Fanny (Mrs. Van ALstyne) composed over 6000 popular hymns, including, Safe in the Arms of Jesus, played at President Grant's funeral, and Pass me not O Gentle Saviour, said to be the favourite hymn of Queen Victoria.

    All this and blind from infancy. She never let her blindness interfere with the Lord's calling.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    I think our new pastor loves this new stuff. :( I overheard 2 women from our church at Wal-Mart saying they were going to switch to first service also. We're up anyhow and Jim has to be there for the early service every other week so it's no big deal and I understand that our church is predominatly 35 and under but I'm teaching the 4 year olds the OLD songs!

    --------------------------------------------------

    Jesus is all the world to me, my life, my joy, my all;
    He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall.
    When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so;
    When I am sad, He makes me glad, He’s my Friend.

    Jesus is all the world to me, my Friend in trials sore;
    I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them over and o’er.
    He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest’s golden grain;
    Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He’s my Friend.

    Jesus is all the world to me, and true to Him I’ll be;
    O how could I this Friend deny, when He’s so true to me?
    Following Him I know I’m right, He watches o’er me day and night;
    Following Him by day and night, He’s my Friend.

    Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better Friend;
    I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when life’s fleeting days shall end.
    Beautiful life with such a Friend, beautiful life that has no end;
    Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my Friend.

    Tommy Dorsey is from Villa Rica and wrote this when he learned his wife and baby had died during childbirth.

    Precious Lord, take my hand,
    Lead me on, let me stand,
    I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
    Through the storm, through the night,
    Lead me on to the light:

    Refrain

    Take my hand, precious Lord,
    Lead me home.

    When my way grows drear,
    Precious Lord, linger near,
    When my life is almost gone,
    Hear my cry, hear my call,
    Hold my hand lest I fall:

    Refrain

    When the darkness appears
    And the night draws near,
    And the day is past and gone,
    At the river I stand,
    Guide my feet, hold my hand:

    Refrain

    The story goes that one particular time in the life of Miss Crosby---there was a "Jesus Guru" who was going to form a parade and stomp up and down the streets of Chicago where Miss Crosby lived!!!

    For a time---she penned a particular hymn and finally finished it---just in time befor the "guru" was to make his march!!

    She had someone take her to a specified street corner where she was certain that the guru was going to pass---sure enough---here he came---and Miss Crosby began singing to the top of her voice these words as this "Jesus Guru" passed by!!

    I shall know Him!
    I shall know Him!
    When redeemed by His side I shall stand!!
    I shall know my redeemer when I view His blessed face!
    For His smile will be the first to welcome me!!

    And I shall know Him!
    I shall know Him!
    By the print of the nails in His hands!!

    Words by Fanny Crosby!

    Give me the old songs!!!!

    I am blessed as I read or sing songs penned by Fanny Crosby - and notice how many times this blind lady refers to sight - in one form or another.

    Dan

    "Perfect submission, perfect delight,
    Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
    Angels descending, bring from above
    Echoes of mercy, whispers of love."

    Yes---and speaking of her sight---she lived not far from D L Moody and was good friends----one particular day---she and Brother Moody were talking----

    "Fanny! I'm going to lay hands on you and pray that you may receive your sight!!"

    "OH, NO!! Don't do that Dwight!!"

    "Why not???"

    "Because all this time---I have been blind!!! And I just want the very first sight that I see to be---the face of my blessed Lord Jesus Christ!!!"

    She died---not seeing---but living by faith---to the day when that faith became beautiful sight!!

    I didn't know she had lived in Chicago. She was born in New York and taught at the Institute for the Blind and had a mission in lower eastside New York city. Interesting.

    Cheers,

    Someday the silver cord will break,
    and I no more as now shall sing;
    but oh, the joy when I shall wake
    within the palace of the King!
    And I shall see Him face to face,
    and tell the story--saved by grace!

    I have sung "Jesus Is All the world to Me" to my children many times.

    Have y'all ever seen a 5 and a 3 year old sing "Till the Storm Passes By" at Wal-mart? Mine did just that a few months ago . . [IMG] [IMG]

    Morning all:

    Hope all you mothers had a Happy Mothers Day! I talked to mine for a few moments last night before she went to my brothers for a cook out. She loves her new church and is doing great there!

    It's a bit cool here this morning, but bearable. It was very warm here yesterday. Vivian finally got her tomato plants and jalapenos into the ground along with some head lettuce and romaine lettuce. She's hoping for a good yield of tomato's. She had over 19 of those plants. Oh, she also planted some broccoli. She is wanting to start some others today when she gets home from work...from seed.

    Our riding lawn mower broke down again halfway through the lawn. The carbuerator was overflowing with gas and gas was in the oil. Guess it's going to have to go into the shop this time.

    Well, it's back to bed for me after Vivian calls. I'm still not recoverd from the tests (hearing and otherwise) from last week. Ya'll play nice! [IMG]

    Good morning all:

    I is still nice and warm here, but the rain started last night. We are supposed to have thunder storms all day.

    No more "Queen for a Day", it's back to the usual routine today, but yesterday was wonderful!

    Cruising,
