I will have to ask him which highway he was on. I know he ended up there because he had to take a detour...

    Morning everyone!

Cool flower Diane, thanks. I don't believe I've ever seen one. I guess if I want mine to grow I'll have to get it into the ground.

Won't be today! My body says enough is enough and I'm so sore from the last couple of days that I can hardly move. My hands are swollen and my neck is NOT happy. Dumb arthritis! I'll have to give myself today to recover and tomorrow is Precious' appointment with the rhuematologist so hopefully that will be a light day as well. Then Friday I can go back to working in the yard.

It would be nice if the escavating guy got here to work on my backyard this weekend. Now that the deck addition is done I really want to get the rest of the backyard done.

The Confederate Rose doesn't look like a rose because of the layers. BEAUTIFUL tho and hardy. Pretty disease free if I remember correctly.

I have ONE extra girl today because her parents are away on a mission trip and she'd stayed with the other family. She's NOT behaving and in fact, is causing so much noise the little ones cannot sleep. I've actually told an 8 year old she's about to go lay down for a nap if she doesn't calm down!

What a beautiful day! It's mid 80°'s but the wind is blowing at about 20mph and nice and cool.

    Afternoon all:

Well, yesterday afternoon I got dizzy and took a spill over some boxes in the hallway I was cleaning out. I had to go to the doctor this morning causing Viv to miss a day of work. We missed VBS last night and tonight for sure....The doc took x-rays and thinks I have a compression fracture in my spine in the lumbar section and then in the tailbone. They tried to get me in today for a MRI, but the earliest I can get in is next Tuesday. They are booked solid.
So, I get to have that checked out to make sure. If it is, they have already recommended surgery to fuse/replace, etc. Not sure I'm going to do that.
I do know I can hardly walk.
The doc also did my bloodwork, and my hemoglobin counts are falling again, and that means more blood if it doesn't stop. They went from 12.9 four weeks ago to 10.9 now.
I know God has a reason for this testing, and I'm keeping my head up. [IMG] He's in control!

We've got nearly 50 tomato's on the vines, and my jalepano's are perking up. Wow!~ I'm a happy camper about the garden!

    Ya'll have a great day!

Tony, I'm really sorry to hear all of this! I'd hoped your blood count would remain stable. Certainly they should be able to find your 'leak'!

I got smart and printed off a bunch of clothes from www.makingfriends.com I already had the dolls and the two girls who were making so much noise are now in HEAVEN!

Good for you Diane! Keep 'em busy or toss 'em out in the backyard with the hose pipe! (what I've been doing with mine)

I've been resting all day and am just about feeling human again. Although.....it's awfully quiet in the house now that I'm nearly childless for tonight. Maybe I need to go take another nap.

MIL came and took the two youngest kids home with her for the night. I have to have Precious in Birmingham at 8 o'clock in the morning and she didn't want to get up in time to be here at 6:30. Can't say as I blame her as I don't want to get up and be ready to leave at 6:30 either.

Tony sorry to hear about your fall.

On the garden note, my jalopena's are doing terrible. They are very very droopy as though they don't have enough water. The salsa peppers are doing wonderfully. I don't get what is making the difference as they are planted in the same container. The bell pepper plants are doing nicely but haven't started producing yet, not even a bloom.

The tomatos are doing okay. I have a new tomato on the supersweet plants that I thought weren't going to do anything except grow tall and leggy.

LOL Blackbird! Great minds think alike! I moved them to where the afternoon sun couldn't reach them after deciding that not only were they in the sun but they were also getting extra heat that is reflected off my brick and concrete front steps. They are planted in Miracle grow planting mix.

    Morning all:

Wow...my jalapeno's have several growing out now! I finished staking up the tomato plants yesterday with old fashioned wire hangers! One vine has 11 tomato's on it! The other things are starting to shoot up as well, and the broccoli looks as if it is recovering. The head lettuce is about ready, and the romaine IS ready on one, but the others need a little more growth! The squash is looking great as well!

No matter how big of a "problem" it's going to be, I HAVE to mow my back yard today. Vivian mowed the front yesterday, and I hobbled around and did the weed eating around the house. The longer part of the side yard down to the neighbors and the long part of the front yard to the road (50 ft right of way) has to wait for Viv to be home. Doc said it won't hurt to walk, but I shouldn't do the lawn with nobody home...well, too bad! By the time Viv get's home it will be too hot to mow and it's got to be done. I'll keep my cell phone with me in case I need to call 911. ;)

Anyone got any good recipes for venison? I was given some in "steaks" and stew cut. No roasts until hunting season this year. Viv wants to get the "wild" taste out. My sister said to soak it in milk, but I don't know....anyone?

Well, not much else going on here for us.

Make it a great day! [IMG]

What wild taste? Only road kill has a wild taste [IMG] .

Marinate the steaks in some Italian dressing for a few hours. Then grill or pan fry it. For the stew meat, try a nice slow cook in a crock pot with some onions and tomato.

    Good morning all:

Tony: This site may be able to help you.
    http://www.jakeslakefarm.com/ccooking.html

I had a headache all day yesterday and woke up with it this morning. It might be the humidity - not sure.

It is a pleasant 55º this morning and should be sunny and in the 80s' for the next few days. We could use some rain without the thunderstorms that go with it!

    Cruising,

Good enough to slap somebody's jaws over!!! I'm not a big, big "Deer Hunter"---but lots of my church members are---including a few women! It never fails that somebody will come by the Preacher's house with a couple of bags of meat----steaks, sausages, roasts!!!

    Tony,
Sounds like I need to come down there and tie you to your chair! Spinal fractures and you plan to mow with nobody else home?
No, it doesn't have to be done that bad. Call your church and get a couple of teenage boys over there!

Wish I could, Karen, but we don't have any teen boys in our church...yet! They're close, but not quite that old. I do have someone coming next week to try and help with the lawn...he's bringing his bushhog. I didn't go out and mow. I couldn't do it. I truly was going to try, but just couldn't do it. Vivian just called and said that the system they use at work went down worldwide so she's coming home early. We'll probably try to mow some of it when she gets home...especially around the garden and compost bin.

Sue, thanks for that site. I am looking it over and I think Viv will be interested. She'd better be. I'm getting a hunting license and rifle, compound and crossbows so that I can go hunting with one of the deacons of the church soon. We almost nabbed us a turkey last night on the way home with the car!

blackbird, I'm hoping that I'll get some more from church. Down here they can harvest up to 110 doe per season if I'm not mistaken. This place is "lousy" with deer! They need to be thinned out fo sho! ;)

Tony - the Mrs. whipped up a mess of Sloppy Does for dinner! Simmered it for over an hour so it was nice and full of flavor..... Gotta stop. I'm making myself hungry.

GROSS, I've had venison ONCE. Well, actually twice the the second time it was disguised in spaghetti and I spit it out! YUK

I did my opening time with my class and the closing time but swapped off and let a young mom out of the 2- 3 year old class for a 2 hour break. We had 17 in a smaller room and she'd not worked with little ones before. We sang songs, danced, did some other action things and then I turned off the lights, pulled the shades, turned on Finding Nemo and passed out Popcorn and juice.

Tomorrow is our last day and guess who's coming to our church??? [IMG]

    Evening all.....

I am so tired I can hardly wiggle. No, I didn't work out in the yard. Precious and I have been in B'ham at the doctor most of the day.

The good news is that they don't believe she has JRA. The bad news is that they don't know just what is causing the problem. So next Tuesday we will be back over there for a CT scan and a barium swallow. Then it is hurry up and wait until July 21 when they hold the next clinic, to get the results. They also did a full series of blood work today.

Diane, can you believe that tomorrow is the last day of VBS already? I'm always surprised that the week goes by soooo fast.

Tony, somehow I think that when the doc said it was okay to walk he didn't mean to walk behind the lawnmower! So I'm glad you didn't.

Cindi, I will be really glad when tomorrow is over. It's been a long week! My 'helper' doesn't stay past 12:00 and I get left behind with several children whose parents are teaching and the children I keep. I set up for the next day and then gather up mine, diaper bags et al and walk quite a distance through the church, down two flights of steps, carrying a baby and trying to hang onto and watch two 3 year olds, a 7 year old and Nick.... rush home to feed them and get them down for naps..... I'm BEAT!

The weather has been lovely here the last two days. Jim said it was 98° on the other side of Atlanta. It's going to be in the 50°'s the next few nights. [IMG]
