.

Are you implying your too old to repent and come to the reformed?

As one who agrees with a limited items from Dort, I still get assigned the label.

I consider the two main sticky problems are the view some carry concerning elected to be condemned, and the teaching many still present of the atonement.

but all that is for another thread.
Oh, I have plenty of other sticking points, believe me. (For example, are all actions of saved people predestined? If so, why do not Calvinist theologians write about it? And if so, why so, if they are now regenerate?)

As you say, that should be for another thread. (Not that this thread could not use sidetracking. ;)) But I probably won't join it. Sorry!

All actions of men, beast and nature are ordained by God. God gives allowance to all evil and good to transpire within His will.
Regarding predestination, we can only talk confidently about what God tells us is predestined within scripture. Beyond this we are speculating.

It's only weard to false prophets.

Really? By all means tell me what false prophecy I have made. If you can't tell me that, you are breaking the Ten Commandments, which say, "Thou shalt not bear false witness."

Look, I didn't accuse you of being weird, only the thread.

What an imbecilic post.
You have no respect for a servant of God and ignorantly insult him.
I do not agree with him on a few doctrinal areas, and have openly questioned him. He gave his biblical responses as it should be.
He has too much class to just blast you, but I will not stand by and observe your troll like posting without comment.
John has forgotten more bible than you will ever know.
The only time I see such things is when I deal with unsaved people out in public.
Stop embarasing yourself with such lame comments.

In 1855, C.H. Spurgeon reprinted the 1689 Baptist Confession. These are his words of introduction:-

'This ancient document is a most excellent epitome of the things most surely believed among us.
It is not issued as an authoritative rule or code of faith whereby ye are to be fettered, but as an assurance to you in controversy, a confirmation of faith and a means of edification in righteousness. Here the younger members of our church will have a body of divinity in small compass, and by means of the scriptural proofs will be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in them.
Be not ashamed of your faith; remember it is the ancient Gospel of martyrs, confessors, reformers, against which the gates of hell cannot prevail. Let your lives adorn your faith, let your example recommend your creed. Above all, live in Christ Jesus and walk in Him, giving credence to no teaching but that which is manifestly approved of Him and owned by the Holy Spirit. Cleave fast to the Word of God, which is here mapped out for you.'

These responses are no surprise, Satan has always hated God's unadulterated Word. His business is to twist and distort it as an angel of light and to have men draw disciples unto themselves and not unto our Lord.
ACTS 20:30 KJV "Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."

Ever wonder why there are so many camps, sects, denominations and cults out there whom all claim the Bible as the final authority? Each one claiming they have the corner on the truth? Well you should and you should also be questioning yourselves harshly when you feel the pricks of contextual Scripture that doesn't fit into the traditions you hold dear of men. Don't keep looking for ways to circumvent or negate them. That is what started me down the path of God only and no more men's opinions.

Until we stop treating His Word as a resource for our "theology" and start treating it as our daily food we will not understand and we will remain the same.
That's not so bad you say to yourself, don't be so sure friends, many have a rude awakening coming and will hear "I never knew you". Think the below doesn't apply to your camp, sect or denomination, you should think long and hard about it because it absolutely does apply.
MATTHEW 23:15 KJV "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and..."
Doesn't your reply indicate that you are claiming to have "the corner on the truth"? Of course you are influenced by men's opinions. Unless you live on a desert island all by yourself, we all are. Even the "Jesus Said What" website you provided a link to earlier is evidence of that. Are you suggesting that we read and study the Bible - and only the Bible? That we should not study extra-Biblical material that to help us understand Scripture and doctrines? If that is your view, why point us to any website? I suspect that most Christians on this thread compare what they read in other material against the Bible.

I noticed that you never replied to my earlier response to you, so I will repeat my question. How are your views supposed to be any better than those of anyone else? Why should I take the word of the author of "the Bread of Life" article over Billy Graham, Charles Spurgeon, Whitefield, or D.A. Carson? Of course we rely on the Holy Scriptures as the final authority. To do otherwise is foolish and dangerous. We study God's Word to draw close to the Author; to become more like Jesus. We learn theology as we study. Each Christian holds theological views - even you. These views define how we understand the Bible and its Author.

Not anymore my friend, please heed this idea never spoken of because there is no mammon to be made, no name, no fame, no esteem of men.

Just like me for over 30 years most have been trained to handicap and block themelves from Heaven with the insistence of seeing His Truth through other men's lenses. Most have been indoctrinated this way since their "religious experience" and this is all they know of God and it absolutely does make His Word of no effect. The ideas of great men of God after our Lord's Ascension is Scriptural fiction and came from Rome, not the New Testament. Most everything thought of these days as Bible based is from Rome and not the New Testament. Try it and see, it won't take long if you are truly seeking God.

Rome says to listen to men. All denominations now say to listen to men. Repetitive listening to men’s words in sermons and commentaries is the definition of brainwashing.

Listening only to God’s Words from God and not through men lenses, causes HEART WASHING.

All I am pleading with you to do is to listen only to God's Word. Without gimmicks or opinion. There is a strong chance most who read this have never received enough of His Word, unadulterated. Even the most self-proclaimed Mature Christians typically equate Bible Study with sermon/commentary study, reverting to Scripture merely as reference instead of The Bread of Life.
This is your chance to see just how far you have been led astray from God's Truth. Devote hours daily, including your commutes to this and this only. Saturate yourself in His Word and you will find the peace of God from God, not from men's plucked out, false assurances. Take this challenge, what do you have to lose besides yourself and your loved ones.....

By the way, the website's intention was to warn of the dangers of the traditions of men, regardless of sect, all are wrong and all are dangerous in our time and all share far more in common with Rome than the New Testament. Our Lord warned of this repeatedly but we have convinced ourselves repeatedly "that He always means those other sects, not ours". The idea of the website originally was to show the vast differences in what is truly in His New Testament verses even the most "fundamentalist" indoctrination of men.

1 Timothy 6:3-8
If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

JoJ may not have agreed with you but that's not the same as disrespecting you.
John made the first bad remark. It all comes from scripture and sure to some it is weird I figure A mature Christian doesn't need anyone to teach them. The Bible say so We have the holy spirit for that. Sure my post was weird and I'll be weird right along with scripture I just told him how I see him and his remark.. Now the other hatefull members want to run me out on a rail. You have that authority

MB, many of us have shown you Scriptures.

You claim you need no further instruction than the Scriptures.

It is perplexing that when Scripture is shown you don’t accept it, yet make the claim you accept only Scripture for instruction?

How then, because you reject Scripture offered as foundational for you to conform your position to Scriptures, is one supposed to show you the truth?

You have blocked outside educational sources.
You have blocked BB educational sources.
You have even blocked the information offered you from Scriptures.

How is one then learning?

Help us in understanding how to help you in your striving to knowledge?

Au contraire, Brother. There is nothing new under the sun, and you are far from the first to suggest that we should study Scripture only and depend upon the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Just like me for over 30 years most have been trained to handicap and block themelves from Heaven with the insistence of seeing His Truth through other men's lenses. Most have been indoctrinated this way since their "religious experience" and this is all they know of God and it absolutely does make His Word of no effect. I can't help but wonder who had influence upon you that you hold this opinion. How could you possibly know that "most have been indoctrinated"? There have indeed been (and will continue to be) great men of God until Christ returns. Which specific denominations tell us to listen to men instead of God's Word? Rather, most tell us just the opposite; we are encouraged to follow the Bereans' example (Acts 17:10-12) and study the Scripture to see whether the things we are taught are true.

You said that "everything thought of these days as Bible based is from Rome and not the New Testament". If that is true, you should be able to provide several examples. I'd settle for two or three. The views on the "Fundamentalist Apostasy" article are just opinions of men. I believe that article takes passages out of context (in the "church administration apostasy" paragraph). Likewise, in Acts 4:32 (sharing all things in common), Luke is telling us what they did; this is not instructions for us to do the same thing. This is similar to passages about women's head coverings and keeping silent in church. While the New Testament provides many examples of how the early church operated, these examples do not necessarily mandate that this is how we must run the church. Nothing in the NT prohibits today's practices of seminaries or tax exemptions.

By the way, the website's intention was to warn of the dangers of the traditions of men, regardless of sect, all are wrong and all are dangerous in our time
The website itself is full of men's opinions. For instance, the articles in three of the links are specifically about the "end times". One can find support for several "end times" views in Scripture (pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib views of "the rapture", and a couple of different preterist views). Since there is strong support for each of those positions, how do you know your view is correct? This is just one area where we can benefit from commentaries from theologians. What about different views on baptism? There are also different views on whether the Gifts of the Spirit are still active today. Does Scripture mandate which day of the week we are to worship? Each of these are examples of areas where extra-Biblical sources from learned theologians are helpful. The Holy Spirit does indeed guide us as we study, but that does not exclude using extra-Biblical sources.

I’m going to be brutally honest…you ought to be run out of here on a rail. Your condescending attitude on here, the way you talk to everyone who disagrees with you, snip.

Look at what you wrote your self and you weren't even in the conversation.
