How fat does a person have to be to be a sinner?

Although it is more the exception than the rule, one need not be physically fat to be a glutton. Some people [who are the envy of the obese] can seem to eat anything in nearly any quantity and not gain much weight. This is usually when the person is rather young, and it often catches up with them when they get older. Nevertheless, these thin gluttons are still gluttons.
I disagree with this statement. If a person is still thin after eating a lot, he must need to eat a lot. He/She has a high metabalism and needs the food. Now if they eat junk food all the time, more than they eat healthy types of food then it would be a problem.

Being obese and overweight is a sure sign a person isn't taking care of themselves with eating right and proper exercise, any doctor will tell you that.

What I see is a whole lot of medical ignorance with a whole lot of know nothing opinions, by a lot of selfrighteous legalists who want to cast stones while they have a beam in their eye.

Roguelet, are you excluding what the doctors say about medicines and diseases, some of which cause weight gain?

Try my diet for a month. Cut out all sugar. Tell us your results, and I'll be praying for you.

And people are trying to help. It would be wise to heed their advice. When I was a drug addict, people advised me to stop doing drugs. At the time, I was angry with them. How dare they tell me......

Donna I agree with others who say it is a minor amount of people who fit into that catagory.

Statisically Americans are overweight. Many health problems steam from not eating right or not being active enough. There are exceptions but they are just that exceptions.

I would say it may not be how much you eat but What you eat. Most Americans do not eat right.

Curtis, I don't eat sugars.
I eat very little of any carbs, but I am required to have 150 a day. When I don't, I very well know it, my blood suagr drops and I get very sick, nauseated, over heated, extreme sweating, light headed, confusion, disorentation, weakness. If I don't get carbs soon I'll pass out. I'm told if I do I have to be taken to the hospital to be revived. But since I never have I don't know for sure what all happens if I pass out.

I don't need the help of any people who only seek to judge, and point fingers. I have doctors, and a nutritionalist(sp?) who have real medical knowledge, with real medical evidence.
And what you don't seem to know is I've lost nearly 100 pounds, I think I know how by now.

I have yet to see anyone post a single bit of real medical information saying no one gains weight because of any medications ever, and there is no disease that causes weigth gain.

opinions without proof, are nothing but opinions, and worth nothing medically.

Did you know, hypothyroidism before diagnosed causes sever weight gain, and then makes it very difficult to loose weigth, even once on medications?
Did you know it is very difficult for diabetics to loose weight?
How do you know how much I eat, or what I eat?
You have no real idea.
Take a peek at the whats for dinner thread in the women's forum, I rarely eat unhealthy foods.
You make assumptions about me you know nothing about.

Have I pointed any fingers at you, donnA ? Have I said the word "sin" once ?

And the fact that you have lost that much weight absolutely proves that the medication is not causing weight gain. Have you stopped taking it ?

Good for you !!!! That is a major accomplishment, and I'm betting it wasn't easy. I'm very happy for you.

I never once said it caused my weight gain. But I believed some people were being unfairly judged.
You all seem to beleive just because I am over weight I must still be sinning and eating too much. Not true. No one seems to want to trust God to help us the same as He helps otehrs with other problems. Everyone seems to want to take it upon themselves to do it for Him.
No it wasn't and isn't easy. And what makes it harder is knowing their are people standing around waiting to judge me, call me names.
No one doing whats being done on this board is going to help one single person loose weight.

I didn't know this thread was about helping people lose weight. I thought it had to do with a " Sin " issue very few talk about. Christians are quick to point out how gambling ( I beleive this is where this topic came from the Gambling thread ) and other gray areas are sin. But when it comes to gluttony which the bible say IS a sin then we are being judgemental ?

I take medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, hypothyroidism, diabetes.
I believe it is a know fact these deseases are caused by poor diet and being overweight.

It is also a known fact that not all overweight people have these problems and are still healthy.

I am not including obese people just overweight people. Studies have found that people who carry a lot of weight in their bellies are unhealthy. People who's weight is evenly distributed and are considered overweight can be very healthy.

Curtis, just reread this thread. What has been said about over weigth people, we've been called all kinds of things. Thats not nice, my momma taught me better then that.
And how do you know what names anyone has called me?
You wouldn't have any idea.
Roguelet, thats what curtis said, not me. I told him this kind of stuff isn't going to help anyone.
Why would anyone want to discuss anything about someone else if they do not intend to help in the first place?
My pastor calls that gossip, talking about people when you aren't a part of it, not part of the solution to the problem, and not invloved by being part of the cause of the problem.

Ah, so people who have these diseases are over weight then. You said these diseases are caused by being over weight.
According to science, high cholesterol is only partly and not always casued by diet, but is inheirited also. High blood pressure has nothing to do with it. And guess what not all diabetics are over weight. I know several who have never had a single weight problem, not one pound, and one is too skinny, and one was warned to gain weight.

If your statement were true only over weight people would have high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes.
But according to my doctors, not true, you can not tell by looking at a person if they have one of these, or that they will get it. And being over weight does not mean you will have these either.
Once agin opinion not supported by facts.

donnA, I'm done talking to you. I responded to the O/P, and it was a mistake to get into a conversation with you.

I stand by everything I said.

Have a good night.
