I agree with the gist of your statement here, but still have a hard time seeing how to vote for someone whose policy is death!
Do you think supporting a party that advocates large military and meddling in foreign affairs that lead to mass death around the world is acceptable? Is that not a policy of death?

I understand that it is very easy to see the death in abortion. No Christian can support it. However, there are many decisions made by government where those decisions result in death. Can a Christian support those decisions simply because that party condemns abortion? Should that party receive carte blanche acceptance?

I say...no. Christians must be discerning.

Taking in the remainder of the article, Platt is correct in that one party is not morally superior to the other. They are both worldly and secular. They each have moral strengths and weaknesses and each seeks the moral high ground differently. In the end both are godless powers.
One party is far superior to the other morally. Abortion alone makes that obvious. Saying Democrats have any good in them is like saying Old Joe Bob over there is a good guy except for the fact he is a serial killer.

There used to be an add, with the line, this is not your father's Oldsmobile. The Democrat party of today is not the party of Jack Kennedy or Harry Truman. One of the lines in the TV movie, the Winds of War, was an elderly Jew indicating they need not be concerned with the rise of the NASI regime. He said, "what can they do - kill us all." The inability to see that others will say anything and do anything to obtain and retain power brought about the deaths of more than 50 million in the 20th Century. About 60 million Americans have been slaughtered since 1974.

Many people on the left love their neighbors much much better than those on the right.
All people fall far short of moral excellence so attempting to declare one group as morally superior is a fallacy.

You have people opposing abortion on both sides.

Christian Democrats who oppose abortion typically view it as a social ill that can be stopped by making it socially obsolete while Christian Republicans want to make abortion illegal. To be fair, the Republicans ignore the fact that abortion has existed long before Roe vs Wade. But the DNC platform is to keep abortion legal while the GOP platform is to make it illegal. So the GOP has that advantage on the surface (if we pretend that the GOP would actually make abortion illegal if given the chance...something history has disproven).

The DNC and the GOP are just two sides of the same worldly coin. Both exist because neither will accomplish what they "seek" to accomplish. At least the Democrats are not pretending their vote will somehow stop abortion. You have to at least admit that they are honest where the GOP just promises things that they know will never be delivered, and Christians support them because it tickles their ears.

Look at it this way - what would it take for Republicans to end abortion?

A majority of GOP nominated Supreme Court Justices? You've had that since the 1970's. A GOP President? You had that. A GOP House? You had that. A GOP Senate? You had that. All of those at one time? Nope, you had that also.

It is a foolish idea that one can legislate abortion to extension. It is a foolish idea that the GOP will actually end abortion. It is an extraordinarily foolish idea to think that the GOP could change even one heart, which is what would really have to take place to end abortion.

The Dems as a party hold to abortion on demand, even allowing to kill after birth, and was the ones really pushing hard for gay marriages, and for having our moral rot speeding ahead!

the Dem leadership wants abortion on demand, they would see no need nor reason to get rid of it!

You do realise that Conservative SC Judges can decide to have Roe Ve Wade declared null and void though?
NO chance under Dems, but some under republicans, as they can get those judges in plaxce

You do realize that since the 1970's the majority of Supreme Court Justices HAVE been appointed by Republican Presidents, right?

Not only this, but there have been times when the Republicans controlled the House and Senate with a Republican President.

Guess what did not take place? You got it....an end to abortion.

If it makes you feel better then by all means pretend your vote will save children. It seems you have chosen who to follow. Might as well feel good about it. Just don't look behind the curtain or scratch the surface or you may find Jesus was right about not being able to serve two masters.

And you do realize Dems blocked all the obvious pro life judges. Trump is first Republican President to not have to have his justices killed by filibuster. We have moderates because true conservatives could not get confirmation. JonC. You are much smarter than your above post.

Republicans always let the most liberal SC judges skate right thru to be on the Court, but Dems block any and all not liberal!

Sure they do. They "seek", but will never deliver.

They had the majority of Supreme Court Justices since Roe vs Wade. They have had the presidency, the house and senate.

I believe your faith is misplaced. A worldly power will never truly change the world for the good.

You do know that if committed the filibuster is not the end-all, right?

The issue is what comes around goes around and politics is compromise.
