'Pope' means 'father' (contra Matthew 23:9). But my point is that there was no Roman Catholic Church and Julius was not recognized and head of anything but the church at Rome.
The first person to claim the blasphemous name of 'pope' was Leo in the 5th Century.
What is blasphemous about the name "Pope" (Papa) or "Father"? The Scriptures have many examples where the term "Father" is used to describe people other than God, our Father in heaven.
Here is St. Paul speaking: "I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14–15).
As for your other statement, you already admitted that St. Athanasius went to the Bishop of Rome for his backing concerning the Arian controversy, plus the other ECF's recognized his leadership. If I am correct, the term "Roman" came out as a pejorative after the renegades of the 16th century came on the scene. Do you acknowledge St. Augustine? Here is what he said of the Bishop of Rome:
St. Augustine
"If the very order of episcopal succession is to be considered, how much more surely, truly, and safely do we number them from Peter himself, to whom, as to one representing the whole Church, the Lord said, ‘Upon this rock I will build my Church’ . . . [Matt. 16:18]. Peter was succeeded by Linus, Linus by Clement, Clement by Anacletus, Anacletus by Evaristus . . . " (Letters 53:1:2 [A.D. 412]).
So as of your point - it is mistaken.
