Whats for Dinner?

The way I see it is that a guest eats what we eat, fancy instructions or no. It wouldn't matter if it was the president, the pope, or whoever. I guess I was raised plain ol' country and am apt to stay that way.

Ahh Trotter, he has the curse of the Western world....diabetes, and if you are like most folk who do not have it or have a loved one with it...why would you want to cause them illness when a few simple alterations to a menu is required. You may be a plain man but I would think you are a hospitable one to a guest whether high or low.

Americans get plastered by all manner of epitaphs from the world, however, I have never heard of anyone belittling Americans on their generous hospitality and often by folk little more than strangers!:thumbs:

Family has to be up at school for a Christmas program tonight so dinner was quick and easy: BLTs, Tomato Soup, and French Fries.

Pizza varieties, homemade, made to suit individual tastes.

For two youngest: dough made from mix (just add water) with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni.

For next two kids up: crust completely homemade with italian recipe (very light) and baked on sheet over olive oil and corn meal, tomato sauce, bacon, and pepperoni.

For hubby: same homemade crust but with garlic butter instead of tomato sauce, with mozzarella, pepperoni and bacon.

For me and oldest daughter: naan for the crust, laid on a baking sheet coated in olive oil and a tiny bit of corn meal, garlic butter with good sized chunks of fried garlic, topped with a thin layer of finely shredded mozzarella and sprinkled sparingly with thin bits of crisp bacon. It was HEAVENLY!

I'm glad I'm not sleeping in the same room as you Gina! Fried garlic, huh?

We are a having:

roasted pork butt with lemon and herbs
boiled cabbage
mac and cheese and fried apples

And maybe some bread, but I'll need to get up here in a minute and go put it on if we are and I ain't ready to move just yet.

It is very hot today and have drunk litres of cold tea. Thank the Lord for no wobbles in Wanganui not like poor old Christchurch getting another nasty centred right on the CBD. Spare a thought and a prayer for those who live on earth that is wobbly as jelly/jello!:type:

I semi-retired almost two years ago. Since then I've taken up cooking as a quasi-hobby. I prefer French and Italian cooking, which are actually very similar in many ways.

Usually friday evenings I'll make pizza. Everything from scratch, using fresh ingredients. Thus was last night's dinner.
