It was interesting when I was reading Bohnhoeffer's biography last night how he had "ecumenical endeavors" as well. I don't hear anyone getting on HIS case.
YOU were reading Bohnhoeffer. No one else in this discussion seems to have been. If I were reading something about his ecumenical joining of the Body to that which is against Christ, I would have the very same objection as GOD says to not do it.
And this is the problem AGAIN with so much of Christendom. We've got this very wrong notion that if we "accomplish" something that people think is good, that we have honored Christ. As much as the world thinks it is good , it will burn as the chaff.
Our "sacrifice" while accomplishing "good" DOES NOT supersede God's command to OBEY FIRST.
So no matter how good the accomplishment is, if we have disobeyed, it's still sinful.
Obedience is BETTER than sacrifice.
As I said earlier, I guess our church should stop supporting the crisis pregnancy center that we started because the Catholic church also supports it. Don't want to have people think that we are compromising.
As I asked earlier, did you PARTNER with the Catholic Church in this endeavor? If so, your church is just as wrong as Saddleback would be if it partnered with that which is against Christ.
And even if you haven't partnered with that which is against Christ, when you give the perception that you have, the consequences are much the same.
When confusion is authored it's because folks are unaligned with God's word.
When Jesus was with all the tax collectors and those that people perceived to be against Him, He witnessed Himself and His truth.
Is Warren witnessing the truth of Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected or is he just trying to find common ground?
