In what area's of life should disciples of Christ be concerned with?

You are assuming the Lord instructs us NOT to join the military or be involved in the government. I don't believe Scripture prohibits anyone from serving in the military or any government service. Joshua was a soldier. David was a king. Esther was a queen. Each of the Judges served in a...

    Aliens UFOs

You may very well be right. I have to admit that some of the UFO encounters we hear about are pretty spooky and scary. Then again, they may truly be ETs from other worlds. Then again, these encounters could be a combination of both.

    Aliens UFOs

Unless the alien life forms need some entirely different environment from what we do on Earth. We don't really know much about the environments of other worlds, and can only guess as to what other life forms would need. UFOs sightings go back hundreds, or even thousands, of years. I simply...

    Aliens UFOs

According to the Drake equation, the odds of us being alone in the universe are less than one. That being said, would it really change our view of Christ if we discovered we are not alone? I watched what I believe was a UFO for about 30 minutes late one night while I was on guard duty while on...

In what area's of life should disciples of Christ be concerned with?

Disciples of Christ should serve in whatever capacity the Lord where Christ leads them. If this means serving in the military, serving in public office, serving in the local church, serving at a food bank, or serving by doing home projects for widows and the elderly. There is nothing wrong...

    He Tabernacled Among Us

Thank you, Tom. That was most insightful. I actually enjoyed learning from this post. I now have a new appreciation for the Book of Hebrews.

    Should Christians pray for Putin?

While I often pray for Biden's salvation, I must admit that I had not considered praying for Putin. In 1 Timothy 2:1, Paul writes "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people." Putin's soul is no more lost than mine was before...

    Red Letter, Verse Format

QUOTE="alexander284, post: 2787469, member: 2198"]For me, the fact that red letter editions are, quite often, bright pink makes them difficult for me to comfortably read. I wish the publishers would simply print the words of Jesus in boldface. If it must be a different color, maybe blue would...

    Our role in evangelism

It depends on how we define "pointing people to Christ". I believe that the Great Commission requires us to engage with others in sharing the Gospel.

Are full blown Pretierism and Pelagianism heresies then?

I can understand that argument. However I view this as a difference in viewpoints. FP doesn't deny the diety of Jesus, and it doesn't deny salvation by grace through faith.

Are full blown Pretierism and Pelagianism heresies then?

As I understand it, I believe full-blown Pelagianism is heretical. While I disagree with Full Preterism, I do not believe it is heresy, but it's a mistaken view of eschatology.

    Our role in evangelism

It's not enough to simply point people to Christ. Indeed, the council of God is to offer Christ to all who will hear. After all, "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God".

    Gender Inclusive Updates ...

I didn't even realize that MacArthur was behind the Legacy NASB. I appreciate your insight. It seems like sometimes the translators are more concerned about gender neutrality than accuracy. Which translation do you believe is the closest to using the original language?

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

I must respectfully disagree. I don't believe that there will be a "blooming of the fig tree" event, as it was just an illustration. It's been an interesting discussion. May God greatly bless you and yours.

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

Matthew 24:34 says exactly what Jesus meant. The generation that saw all the things Jesus had been telling them did not pass away before the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, which brought about the final end of the Old Covenant. Our views are very different, to be sure. I am fully convinced...

I'd never considered that parallel bit of history. Thank you.

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

Our views are so opposite of each other, I hardly know where to begin. Yes, I do believe there is an overlap. I agree that the Cross was the beginning of the end of the New Covenant, but it also marked the beginning of the end of the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant came to a final end in AD...

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

The last question is more accurately translated "and of the end of the age". The "age" in question was the Old Covenant age. The disciples had just talked about how magnificent the Temple was, and Jesus dropped a bombshell on them by telling them it would be destroyed. To them, this was huge...

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

We don't know how old the disciples were when they followed Jesus, so we don't know how old they would have been when Jerusalem was sacked by the Romans. We do know that Jesus gave the Olivet Discourse shortly before His crucifixion, and that the Olivet Discourse is recorded in the synoptic...

THE MARK OF GOD AND BEAST

To the contrary, Brother, I believe you are missing the point. The point is that Jesus clearly told His immediate audience "you" will see these things come to pass. History records that General Titus destroyed Titus in AD 70, which fits perfectly with Christ's prophecy. Moreover, you...
