    Liberal or not?

In the SBC church I'm a member of, the Pastor's wife (who is a professor at the most prominent private Christian college) often fills in, when the need arises, in our adult Sunday School classes.

How important is dessert after your meals?

I usually like to eat something sweet after dinner, but I have something simple, like a small portion of peanut m&ms, for example.

    Liberal or not?

I think this points to the fact that, more and more, many of our churches' most faithful attendees are of the female gender.

    All you can eat buffet

My employer recently sent me on a business trip to Nevada. The hotel they had me stay at had a very popular buffet. The price of the buffet was $46.99 per person. And the lines for the buffet were very long. No one complained about the price of the buffet. The cost of living in much of the...

Christian Standard Bible ("Do Over") :)

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the CSB matches up (when reading in parallel with) the ESV (my prior primary Bible translation of choice).

Christian Standard Bible ("Do Over") :)

I believe the CSB is fine "when doing serious Bible studies."

Christian Standard Bible ("Do Over") :)

I've noticed that the CSB (like the NIV) seems to use fewer words than other translations. I'd love to have a "word count" for both the CSB and the NIV!

    Your Five Favorite Bible Translations?

Which isn't, necessarily, a bad thing.

    Your Five Favorite Bible Translations?

I'll have to disagree with you on that. I'm finding the NASB (2020) to be an improvement, in many ways, over its predecessor.

    "Formal" vs "Functional"

I like the fact that the CSB is somewhat more "formal equivalence," so to speak, than the NIV.

Christian Standard Bible ("Do Over") :)

Between the HCSB and the CSB, which do you prefer (overall)?

For those who use the New King James Version (NKJV) ...

I believe the NKJV is a fine translation and, perhaps, even underrated.

NASB (1995 Edition) versus NASB (Current Edition)

On the other hand, I'm finding the NASB (2020) does a fine job of introducing gender inclusive language, without "going overboard."

    Gender Inclusive Updates ...

I teach an adult Sunday School class at my local SBC. And the Sunday School materials utilize the CSB (no surprise). It's taken some time, but I'm becoming accustomed to using the CSB on a regular basis (for this very reason). And I can see, firsthand, that the gender inclusive language...

How much does a person need to know about Christ to be saved?

If a man was saved in 1962, and is still in the faith, that's a man I'm going to listen to. :)

    "Formal" vs "Functional"

I'm currently enjoying the CSB, since it seems to strike a balance between "formal" and "functional."

    Studying versus Reading Aloud ...

The Amplified Bible is Joyce Meyer's Bible translation of choice.

    Gender Inclusive Updates ...

Yes, I'm coming around on the gender inclusive issue, myself.

    Gender Inclusive Updates ...

I like the way that the CSB renders Psalm 19:5 ... "It is like a bridegroom coming from his home; It rejoices like an athlete running a course."

Christian Standard Bible ("Do Over") :)

One thing I really like about the CSB is its "economy of words." This really helps with the "readability" factor.
