    I Am a Modernist

Bob, I'm confused about your statement " I see things in light of empirical evidence, logic, absolutes, truth, etc." Correct me if I'm wrong, you also teach your students that we don’t have an error free Bible…. There is no Bible that we can take to be absolute because all Bibles have errors...

    Jehovah's Witness?

Jehovah's Witness? The older I get the more I misplace things! I use to have a pamphlet that spelled out some of the flip-flops and inconsistencies with the WatchTower, Charles Taze Russell etc. An x Baptist, now JW will be dropping off some literature for me within the next week or so and I...

    How to Witness to Hindus

This man lived in Napal for, I think, 25 years and ministered to Hindus. I'm sure that if you gave him a call or emailed him, he would be glad to help. fbns@wayoflife.org (email) [ April 24, 2006, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: SaggyWoman ]

How do you witness to your own family?

Kathy & Kennith, You bet I'll pray for you! I just went to the link I gave and it's not working on pg#2 so if you have trouble and don’t mind getting a big email, I will email it to you. In the meantime The Maginot Line: The lush rolling hills situated between France and Germany were the...

How do you witness to your own family?

Kathy, I know exactly what you are talking about. When I tried to talk to family members about their need to be saved, I would get a huge lump in my through and start to cry. I have boldly approached Bikers, rich people in the big house on the hill, poor people in the rundown trailer I even...

    Why I am KJV only

You see…. it's happening already. You know how the animal rights people seem to hate people rather than love animals? Well that’s the impression I get from the non KJVO people… it's like they hate the KJV more than they love the modern Bibles. Acutely I loved that church and it pained me deeply...

    Why I am KJV only

Why I am KJV only I have been a member of Baptist Board going on one year and have not posted on this topic (although I have followed it) because I have been there and done that. In all the time I have spent on the Internet I have never seen anyone change his or her mind about Bible Versions and...

I want to be saved but I'm not sure I can be.

Jesse, Hell is easy to understand if you consider this one word "Justice". Is it reasonable to you that if God dose exist, he would punish child molesters, rapists, murderers etc.? Sure it's reasonable. We all have the built in knowledge of the concept of Justice. The other day, I read a news...

    Weigh Down Workshop cult alert

Way to go, Jbotwinick! I had already seen that info (probably on one of those Expose type web pages) but it is good to see that somebody cares enough to warn others.

    Masonic Lodge

The Masonic Lodge is evil and not something that a Christian should be a member of. As Christians, we are told to "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness" "Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers" and so on. If you are a Hindu or Muslim and want to "warship god"...

is tithing just an Old Testament principle?

"Where is it said that God told Moses to give that tithe to Melchizedek? Or that Melchizedek commanded it of Moses by his authority as a priest? Where is it said that this tithe was anything more than a gift from Abram to Melchizedek, given on his own initiative?" It doesn't say. I'm doing it...

is tithing just an Old Testament principle?

Joy2 Could you expound on what the flaw is in the “tithing predated the law and therefore we are still required to keep this OT law” idea? I’m assuming that the actual argument is that “tithing predated the law and therefore was not done away with when the law was fulfilled”. If the argument...

    How should it be done?

Ps: I'm not against missionary's going to foreign places. I have personally helped support a Bible Smuggler and church planter in China and missionary's in the Philippines. What I am saying is that we need to do the bulk of our missions at home and send in the "Special Forces" as the Lord leads.

    How should it be done?

I don’t think missions should be supported…. at least not in the way it’s being done. Suppose you lived in the jungle and two missionaries came to your town, one a fully trained and supported SBC missionary and the other an IFB missionary who after years of deputation has obtained funding...

MMF - Biblical Principles for Church Music

Man! This is a good thread. People from both sides of the fence, no doubt, read this and say, "that’s what I have been trying to say". When it all boils down, what is left is a difference in how these standards are applied. PA Jim, you hit the nail on the head.

Rating Feature - What do you think?

bjh Were you offended by something I said? The verses, I believe, apply in that if you post something that is very conservative or liberal and all of the sudden you get a five star rating…. It's kind of like a gift. You are more likely to lean that way the next time you post. Deut 16:9 is an...

Rating Feature - What do you think?

I'm going to disable the rating in my profile. I think the number of stars by your name can influence what you say in your post and we should be more concerned with how the Lord would rate us. Deuteronomy 16:19 19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a...

MMF - The best singing I ever heard

I was in a meeting when a preacher requested that all the ladies in the building sing Near the Cross-, with no musicale instruments. He got a lot of strange looks but his request was honored. If you don’t mind getting some funny looks, try it out and let me know what you think. [ September...
