Interesting Article not scripture, but interesting historical document

Hoax... check the source http://worldnewsdailyreport.com/disclaimer/ They say of themselves: World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

I don't know why I was under the assumption you had read Piper's book. I got you confused w/ Deacon's post. That is exactly the problem here. No wonder you don't understand the statement. You don't understand what is backing it up. That is the major issue then. I challenge you, not to read...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

What if I just provide an example of where Scripture commands us to find joy or pleasure in God? "Delight yourself in the LORD..." (Ps 37:4). That passage can be summarized to say "Desire God, and he will give you himself (that which you desire)." Or to say it in more eloquent terms: Psa 73:25...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

What if God's will in our lives is that we glorify him by enjoying him forever (as the catechisms say)? After all, what is God's will for God? To be glorified and enjoy himself forever. Anything less is beneath God and thus would be idolatry. Why not the same for us? I"m not sure Piper would...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

I think part of the confusion is over the word "satisfied" or satisfaction. Piper is meaning it in the sense of pleasure or fulfillment. God is most glorified in us when we find our truest fulfillment or complete and utter joy in God.

    God Is Most Glorified When...

Ok... I changed the actual quotation to match your conclusion. That is why I phrased it as a question. According to what you are saying, God is most glorified in us when he is most satisfied in us. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that is what you are asserting. I know the real quotation and...

Need a rest from this board

Ding ding ding I have found taking summers off is quite helpful.

    God Is Most Glorified When...

So God is most glorified in us when he is most satisfied in us? Self help, anyone? I think you miss the point. When we are most satisfied in God (i.e. God is our greatest treasure; if all we have is God we have all we need) then God has worked in us both to will and to do his good pleasure...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

Then that is not agreement. Or if you understand your surrender to be qualified by utter joy and desire fulfilled in God, then yes. You think the terms "Christian Hedonism" doesn't go together or the concepts of desiring God doesn't go together? I think he is spot on by refining the...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

I just wonder if you know what Piper means? Even persecution is a delight when your delight is in God... the greatest "thing" there is thus the greatest delight to have. No better joy than joy in God. God giving himself as a gift means that the best way to glorify the gift and the giver (the...

    God Is Most Glorified When...

Desiring God, where Piper's schtick is elaborated and the phrase you quoted is vindicated, is called Christian Hedonism. In other words... I'm all in on this one.

    Saw Left Behind

But taken as a collective, I'm sure you're not the only one that thinks the whole think is hokey. It's movies like this that help Christians lose their voice in the world. We can't be taken serious when our own films are ridiculous.

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

I don't think I broadbrushed anything. I was speaking specifically of those people who actually do this. Not that all dispies do this. I think you just don't like my critical tenor and point I'm making. The fact remains, it happens. Teens who read this stuff build their whole eschatology on...

    Saw Left Behind

Shocking that portraying the events as dispies predict them are corny and far fetched. That says a lot.

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

You must misunderstand. I know Lahaye's fiction is based on his eschatological interpretation. What I am saying is that people (I might be cruel and call them stupid or dull of wit) have been more influenced theologically by these fictions than actual theological works (or the Bible for that...

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

No sarcasm. Tim Lahaye is not deep. Period. He is no serious theologian. There are good theologians that are dispies. But he is not one of them.

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

Is it not equally barbaric to strip mothers of their babies just because... reasons?

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

I think you'd be surprised how much eschatology has been based around these books and movies. Or you are not being as honest as you should be.

Question for Pre-Tribbers (not to debate you)

I just watched (for the first time) the new Left Behind trailer. Do you believe that babies will be raptured too? That caught me by surprise in the trailer. A nursery at the hospital w/ empty bassinets. Mothers crying. Their arms empty w/ the baby no longer wrapped in the blanket. Saddening...
