Is repentance a neccesary part of the gospel...no doubt about it!

Certainly, repentance and faith are requisites for the Christian life. But they are also necessary for conversion. Even the idea of "convert" has the idea to turn. I'm not sure what you think I said that you didn't agree with.

Is repentance a neccesary part of the gospel...no doubt about it!

The main cause.... that is a hard question. Perhaps b/c "faith" has been the war-drum beaten so hard, that its full force has been lost. Biblical faith is being convinced of something to the point that it affects the way you live. This also applies to the full reality of Jesus identity...

    Our Post-Resurrection Bodies (1 Cor. 15)

But the title of the thread speaks of a "post-resurrection" body as if after we are resurrected, there is another body. Just wondering what is meant by that. Or if anyone caught the redundancy.

    Our Post-Resurrection Bodies (1 Cor. 15)

So is there a body after the resurrection? Isn't that what the title of the thread implies? After we are resurrected, there is a post-resurrection body?

How do you view the book of Revelation?

Yeah... perspicuity of Scripture... who needs that doctrine anyhow.

Van is a bib stud type??? Wow.

How do you view the book of Revelation?

As most futurist understands Rev., yes. But as I said, I'm an eclectic. I see the picture in Rev. 21-22 as a description of new creation. So that is its future element. And that is the part of apocalyptic that most have in common... new creation.

    Video of a Ghost

    What... the... crap... ?!?!

How do you view the book of Revelation?

I view it as one of many other works in the same genre of apocalyptic (though inspired) and interpret it in light of that. Only Christians in the last 200 or so years have mistakenly taken apocalyptic as forecasting the future history.

    The gospel of Mark

Mark doesn't mention the temptations... only that Jesus was led into the wilderness and tempted (if memory serves). One more reason for Markan priority.

I'm not criticizing your translation. I'm just trying to clarify my point when you said that I was mistaken.

Not that this is relevant... but is Cornerstone a baptist school?

New International Version (NIV) & Today's New International Version (TNIV)

Was there something specific you wanted to discuss about these two versions? Have you checked into the difference between the updated NIV2011 and the TNIV?

    Abbreviated Word Study G2523, kathizete

I think you are missing what I am saying. Just b/c Greek can use an active voice verb and a reflexive pronoun does not make your translation right to do so when an active voice verb is used and no reflexive pronoun. I honestly don't remember the verse in question or the grammar of that verse...

    Job's Resurrection Verse: Job 19:25-26

I'm telling you guys... it's a waste of time. He is a hypocrite. And when he can't stand the heat, he doesn't get out of the kitchen, he just starts putting people on ignore.

    Abbreviated Word Study G2523, kathizete

I just quoted you saying I was mistaken about "koine Greek does have examples of the use of reflexive pronouns with active verbs." I'm not sure what I said or where I said such, but perhaps you can provide my words. Otherwise, I was not mistaken. This thread has showed at many levels the many...

Probably he was referring to Eph 2:1-5. Give them the benefit of the doubt at least.

    Job's Resurrection Verse: Job 19:25-26

So your snarky attitude is justified with the correct audience??? This is the height of hypocrisy people. Am I the only one seeing this? He put me on ignore b/c we call each other names (well I called on of his comments asinine so he called me asinine). He is showing himself to be a hypocrite...

    Job's Resurrection Verse: Job 19:25-26

How is it that we let tom get away with his snarky demeanor, but when you try it against him he puts you on ignore? I think we should all ignore him if that is the game he's going to play.
