Underlying Causes for Covenant Theology Opposition to Dispensational Theology

Man that story sounds familiar (minus the post-grad degrees, still working on my first). I am finding w/ many dispo's (especially in the fundamentalist camp) this is a very divisive issue.

Pick me!!! I also reject Dispensational theology ;)

    Luther Rice for Military Chaplaincy?

Just to clarify, a 72 hour MDiv equivalent like an MABS offered at Piedmont Baptist Grad School is sufficient. I think the criteria must be 1 graduate degree at least 72 hours long (not 2 36 credit grad degrees). That degree must also be in a field of divinity such as theology or biblical...

Underlying Causes for Covenant Theology Opposition to Dispensational Theology

That's true. Academic dispensationalism is often very calvinistic. People tend to forget that Chafer was a presby.

    Congregationalism

I fear that all you will find is "examples" or descriptive illustrations. It is not however "taught" in the sense of prescriptive. And at most, the description of congregationalism is 100% unanimity, hardly what is practiced in most congregational churches.

Cals: Is being given to Jesus the same as being drawn?

I think it is unfortunate that this is the only place this Greek word is translated "draw." The reality is, the word "draw" is used to refer to pulling a sword out of its scabbard or to pull an arrow back in a bow. Thus, the action to "draw" means to be pulled or dragged. That is the...

    Luther Rice for Military Chaplaincy?

I am pretty positive that the accreditation required is one that is recognized by the department of education. I.e. TRACS accreditation is sufficient. Therefore, Luther Rice, Piedmont Baptist Grad School, Bob Jones, and others are all adequate for chaplaincy. I know this b/c I used to work...

    Luther Rice for Military Chaplaincy?

You might consider Liberty's online program. Even Piedmont Baptist Grad school has an online MA that is the MDiv equiv for military chaplains. There are more options than Luther Rice.

So only a few people read here on the BB??? COME ON PEOPLE ;)

Please Explain 1 John 2 "Jesus propiation For Sins Of Whole World!"

I think we jump quickly to conclusion that John's use of "world" can automatically refer to every soul who ever lived. I think it is just his way of using OT language which spoke of the nations. Thus eventually John draws out what he means by "world" in Revelation (5:9; 7:9; 10:11; 14:6; &...

How Much of The NT Gospels Are Actual words of Jesus, Or Interpretation Of The Apost

2 Things: First to SS... I agree that the final form of the text is what is most important for us today. But that still has an affect on the way we study and interpret the passage. For instance, looking at the Sermon on the Mount and recognizing its highly structured nature will reveal...

How Much of The NT Gospels Are Actual words of Jesus, Or Interpretation Of The Apost

But does this have to do w/ the OP??? I'm not sure that Sola Saint has brought up something that is pertinent to this discussion (unless I'm missing something).

What are you reading (have read) and review it.

I just finished Chris Wright's Mission of God. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. I am now reading NT Wright's The New Testament and the People of God. It's pretty good so far, but NT writes on a whole 'nother level. I have to concentrate to comprehend. What is everyone...

How Much of The NT Gospels Are Actual words of Jesus, Or Interpretation Of The Apost

Not to mention that even if they were illiterate, that does not mean they were too stupid to use an amanuensis. Paul did, and he was educated!

    TULIP of Scripture

Dude... you asked the question "see why I post the way I do?" I just answered w/ my opinion. If you didn't want that kind of answer, you should specify. But I will work harder to control my tongue (fingers in this case ;) ).

Romans 7, understanding Romans 7:7-25 from chapter 6:16-23

That's the thing, besides the present tense verbs of ch 7, chs. 6 & 8 uses the same verbage and language which makes it too difficult to see 7 as a saved person.

    TULIP of Scripture

No... you sound like an angry bible-thumpin' fundamentalist who has figured out so dogmatically what the Bible says that everyone else dissenting must be a heretic. So glad I left this movement.

How Much of The NT Gospels Are Actual words of Jesus, Or Interpretation Of The Apost

"The word is what it is"... tautology. We are trying to clarify what is the word, in this case the stories and statements of and in the gospel accounts. It is a good question and deserves attention. Determining this will help solve many NT studies problems. Perhaps you can offer your opion...
