But I don't like any of those things and I like beer...so clearly this isn't applicable to my particular situation. :wavey: What about Dr. Pepper? It makes my kids a bit hyper and definitely not "Christlike." Can we add that to the banned list while were at it?

No, no, no, Amy. He is saying that he wasn't a believer because he shaved the edge of his beard. ;) "Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards" - Lev 21

    Good point.

Do we need to equally apply all the other requirements of the Levitical law for the priests while entering the temple? Plus, doesn't the distinction of "while going into the temple" and the uniqueness for the levites tell you something about those who are not entering the temple as levites...

    Proof of Calvinism

Van, just go back to post number 48 of this thread where our conversation started and clearly you were saying he remember the sin no more as proof for your limited knowledge view. I asked you clearly if you took this verse to mean that God no longer knew of those sinful acts and you never...

So, would this include the hope of a man to be intimate with his wife? I'm just saying cuz otherwise some of us don't have much hope.

Me 2  I think you will find that I will remain cordial even if I completely disagree with your conclusions... But why? Exactly. We agree so far... Notice they are not condemned already because God didn't love them, or didn't choose them, or didn't provide for them, or didn't...

I'm hearing a bunch of philosophical and rational arguments (even some I agree with) but we still have not seen its prohibition in the scripture.

    Proof of Calvinism

I agree, it is beyond our full comprehension which is why we have to allow scripture's revelation to speak for itself. Saying that He controls both sides equally is not in line with the biblical revelation IMO. God may be 'in control' without necessarily controlling a particular free moral...

"All things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial." - Paul "Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses." - Paul Jesus turned water into wine... etc...etc...etc... It's also been shown that some personality types are more...

Why Does "Arminian Theology" get A bad name here On BB?

HOW do you believe these "things" are spiritually discerned? Keep in mind that the 'brethren' in the church at Corinth couldn't accept them either, so how do you think God spiritually discerned these 'things' to these believers in Corinth? Couldn't that be why Paul was writing to them under...

Why Does "Arminian Theology" get A bad name here On BB?

But the scripture doesn't say "God resisteth the proud but giveth grace to some proud people in order that they be humble...God will humble you in the sight of himself, and he shall lift you up too." It clearly says, "Humble yourselves... and that he gives grace to those who are humble

Why Does "Arminian Theology" get A bad name here On BB?

Then you give unbelievers a really good excuse for their unbelief on judgement day. Why give them that easy out? Why give them such a perfect defense? I believe they are much worse than you do. I think they are SOO bad that they rebelled in the face of God's love and provisions. They were...

    Faith a gift

Ok, let's look at that: 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because...

How do you tell your Baptist Church is....

Very true. Having been on 'both sides' of this debate, I understand that people hear what they want to hear. Typically non-Calvinists can listen to someone like Piper or MacArthur and "Amen" them all the way through. But if you were to stop and explain the full intent of all that was meant by...

    Proof of Calvinism

His nature, characteristics, personhood, attributes never do change. Where have I claimed otherwise? Right, so why try to re-reveal Him in a way that we can't grasp? Why not allow us to grasp him and believe in that which we have grasped rather than confounding the matter with complex...

    Proof of Calvinism

See, this is the problem. I am not the one 'ascribing human attributes to God,' scripture is. You and Dagg are the ones equating that ascribing of attributes as being "limiting." I don't believe that. I reject that God's choice to present Himself in scripture by the use of anthropomorphic...

    Proof of Calvinism

Right, which would be the same position as the rest of us. God knows what happened but doesn't invoke the consequences of that action...he forgives and forgets it. But, before you were pointing to this passage as proof that God's knowledge is not total (i.e. he no longer knows of the...

    Faith a gift

I agree that one can understand and reject (refuse to believe) the truth of the gospel (i.e. have an intellectual understanding); but what do these verses say to support the idea that they are unable to humble themselves and to believe what they have come to intellectually understand? Are you...

    Proof of Calvinism

Van, let's simplify this. Does God know that Peter denied Christ three times or not? Does he know that I just typed that last sentence or is He closing his eyes real fast so He doesn't accidentally see it and come to know that Peter did something that he had completely shut out? What about...
