Do you See God as having Foreknowledge =/same As His Predestination or Not?

With all due respect, this view just seems like an illogical unending cycle. 1. He foresees what we do, which in turn causes Him to 2. Determine what we will do, which in turn causes Him 1. Foresee what we do, which in turn causes Him to 2. Determine what we will do, which in turn causes...

    Pastors posting on the BB

I post in meetings A LOT. It's that or fall asleep, but if I'm multitasking I actually listen better in the meetings believe it or not. :) I also post while I'm watching tv at night sometimes for the same reason. If more than one thing is going on I seem to engage better in both. I don't know...

    Pastors posting on the BB

Let's broaden the scope of the question so as to step on everyone's toes: Is this a normal and accepted practice of the Christian? If the work of the minister is to prepare you for the work of the ministry, shouldn't we all be as equally busy doing His work? Is there a different standard for...

Does God support the Right or the Left?

"A wise man's heart goes to the right, but a fool's heart to the left." Ecc. 10:2

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

The name is in honor of the "rock of offense," the one who caused those who think they knew it all to stumble so as to save their souls. Read Romans 9-11 again and you will see that the "rock of offense" (Christ) was merciful causing Israel to stumble because in doing so they might be provoked...

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

JesusFan, no offense was intended in leaving you off the list. :) You do post with grace in most circumstances, BUT you still SEEM to be searching for where you land, so to speak. I may just be misreading you because of all the question you ask, but that was just my take.

This is good advice from a good man.

Are people Condemned Due To Unbelief, Or That "In Adam" and are sinners?

If you are going to bring an accusation, please be specific, and try not to resort to immature personal attacks and demeaning rhetoric. My posts are on topic and about the point up for debate, not personal, thus I think it would be your post that would be considered "resorting to the gutter."...

    Does anything we do matter?

You do that to yourself brother. I just help point it out for others to recognize as a tendency of some reformed folks... You are confusing your motives with mine. You are the one who tries to flatter me and say you respect my intelligence and the fact that I have a REAL theological position...

Are people Condemned Due To Unbelief, Or That "In Adam" and are sinners?

:thumbsup: It's interesting how he had such a problem to a DIRECT quote from Paul. I didn't say "God passed over the sins previously committed," Paul did. And I wonder if he thinks God sending his Son to atone even for that sin previously committed was just a "wink?" Shameless.

Are people Condemned Due To Unbelief, Or That "In Adam" and are sinners?

First, you are committing the fallacy of question begging by presuming true a subject up for debate. Second, you argument presumes God's powerful life giving gospel isn't sufficient to accomplish the purpose for which it was sent....to make an appeal for God's enemies to be reconciled to him...

Ok, that's it. We're done. Let me know when you want to have an adult conversation.

Are people Condemned Due To Unbelief, Or That "In Adam" and are sinners?

Actually I said they aren't condemned (meaning going to hell -- or "finally condemned") BECAUSE of Adam's fall. They perish BECAUSE they refused to believe God's revelation, period. How many verses do I need to produce that say that very thing verbatim before you would believe it? I've got a...

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

Well, on that point we agree. But, if you think it is just one sided, or even leaning toward one side you need to post in my shoes for a while.

was the Law In Effect Until Christ, But Now Done Away With?

Not "done away with," but "fulfilled."

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

I said you "misinterpret" it which should be a "given" considering that we disagree with each other about the interpretation. That is different from implying that you only present philosophical arguments and avoid the biblical arguments all together...as if you haven't even considered the...

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

Humblethinker, if you want an easy to read summary of the Reformed view may I recommend "Chosen by God" by RC Sproul. I read it in one sitting when I was in college. I obviously disagree with his views now, but I do think its a fairly clear explanation and argument for what many Calvinist...

A Seeker Asks, "Does this BB fairly represent Calvinism?"

Icon, your post was offensive and misrepresentative on so many levels, your lack of visible scriptural references was really the very least of my worries about that response. I know you quote (and misinterpret IMO) many passages, but to pretend you are the only ones who present or deal with...

How Do YOU Interprete" God was in Christ reconciling World to Himself"

2 Peter 2:1 teaches, " But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves." Romans 5:18: So then, as...

Are people Condemned Due To Unbelief, Or That "In Adam" and are sinners?

Even those these verses have yet to be answered by the Calvinists here I'll add yet another couple into the mix: John 8:23 But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe...
