    Let's discuss purgatory

And in what way would you say that sanctification is important? What's it for?

The Doctrine of Justification: The True Gospel

I'm not sure that it anathematizes anyone for believing in salvation by grace since that is what Catholics believe - they'd scarcely go round anathematizing themselves, now would they?

    Let's discuss purgatory

If sanctification is unimportant, as your post implies, why bother with it?

Ahmadinejad Reportedly Claims U.S. is Blocking Return of Mankind's Savior

I see we're into the usual sterile eschatological debates already, before even the end of page 1 of the thread...

Ahmadinejad Reportedly Claims U.S. is Blocking Return of Mankind's Savior

So Ahmalooni's still a nutjob? In later news, elderly German gent in Vatican admits he's not a Protestant and bears are seen not using public washrooms in sylvan settings. Film at 11.

Are Catholics saved or even christians?

Ah, so you're now equating yourself with the Bible? Neat!

The Doctrine of Justification: The True Gospel

Yes, there are differences, but these have been exaggerated as part-and parcel of the 16th century Reformation and Counter-Reformation polemics causing both sides to, to a degree, talk past each other.* A cursory read of both the canons of the Council of Trent and the Lutheran Book of Concord...

    Let's discuss purgatory

Absolutely true - but what if that sanctification is incomplete at death?

Are Catholics saved or even christians?

That's a rather odd view - why reject something before even reading it. Here's your chance: Joint Declaration. The main author from the Catholic side was someone called Joseph Ratzinger - I wonder what happened to him?

Lesbian Elected Ass't Bishop in Episcopal Church

TEC has totally disappeared up its own 'ass't'.

    Rep. Patrick Kennedy Denied Communion

IIRC, the minimum requirement for the Eucharist - acc to the CC - is twice a year: Christmas and Easter.

Question about a Catholic litany V2...

But if I am not perfect, as you say, (although declared perfect), then how can I touch, behold, be with, the Perfect?

    Rep. Patrick Kennedy Denied Communion

Cardinal Ratzinger. The Catholic Church has backed itself into something of a corner here; that said, I'll try to untangle the soteriological mess they've made. Firstly, the Catholic Church accepts that millions of Protestants don't receive what the CC regards as a valid Eucharist, yet the CC...

The Pope’s Plans on Organizing Political, Economic, and Religious Activities Worldwid

Show me where I said that Tradition was 'better' than Scripture? It's not heresy so much as stating the patently obvious to say that SS simply doesn't work. One of the reasons the Admins here had to remove the Calvinist/Arminian board was because that was displaying the 'fruits' of that doctrine.

Climategate emails force Al Gore to cancel talk at Copenhagen

Big news here too; in fact the government have appointed a board of inquiry to look into it

Question about a Catholic litany V2...

I'd point to Jesus and say " Because of Him, His death and resurrection". But that doesn't make me perfect automatically. Yes, I know and believe all of that. But none of it answers my question.

    Rep. Patrick Kennedy Denied Communion

No, it is not Scripture - BUT it is an interpretation of the Scripture under discussion here which was given by a disciple (Ignatius) of the chap who recorded the Lord's words (John) and therefore Ignatius is eminently more qualified than you or I to accurately interpret this passage. So we...

Abortion is a ‘God-Given Right,’ Declares Liberal Leader

TEC are the liberal apostate wing of the Anglican Communion. Some day soon we'll sling 'em out unless they come to their sense and repent.

The Pope’s Plans on Organizing Political, Economic, and Religious Activities Worldwid

It's not watertight - but it's a darn sight better than SS.
