    Dispensationalism

I like my new term: Dispensational Derangement Syndrome (DDS). :D

    Dispensationalism

And this is an example of the ignorance of Pink (and you for quoting him) about dispensationalism. E. W. Bullinger was the leading hyper-dispensationalism of the Acts 28 brand. Almost no one nowadays claims to be a Bullinger type dispensationalist, not even the mid-Acts hyper-dispensationalists...

    Dispensationalism

Yeah, that is why I've always stayed out of the Cal/Arm arguments. I don't need the stress!

    Dispensationalism

    P. S. I have to say, though, that Gerstner is nasty about his opposition, just like the ignoramuses on this thread! This seems to be a symptom of some kind of, shall we call it, Dispensational Derangement Syndrome, (DDS). :Biggrin

    Dispensationalism

When people "loathe dispensationalism," it is usually through ignorance of the theology, something I've seen multiple times on this thread. I've not seen a single opponent of Dispensationalism on this thread that understood the theology. You who oppose it have so far not written a single thing...

    Dispensationalism

You shouldn't trust anything by Pink, least of all his theology. He was arrogant, and didn't think anyone could teach him anything. If you must be a Calvinist, be a Spurgeon type Calvinist, not a follower of Pink. Besides that, I've read his little book on dispensationalism, and it is badly...

    Dispensationalism

Yes, this is the second time you've said that. If you believe it is a perversion of the Gospel, then dispensationalists cannot be saved. So, what is the Gospel? Do you believe it is something other than what Paul taught in 1 Cor. 15:1-8? Because that is the Gospel that I believe as a...

    Dispensationalism

Are you kidding me? You accused dispensationalists of a "denial of the work of Christ." What in the world do you think the "work of Christ" is in this context, other than salvation? If I "deny the work of Christ," I'm eternally lost.

    Dispensationalism

You have just named several myths about dispensationalism. So your hatred for us dispensationalists does not have factual basis. You are just being nasty. I teach a college class in Dispensational Theology, so I know the facts. 1. Israel is not the "real focus of God." That "real focus" is His...

Finding the right definition of a word in the Greek

"Many of the early Pentecostals believed that speaking in tongues had a unique missionary function. According to this perspective, the new tongues were actually spoken languages to be used by the Pentecostals in the proclamation of the Gospel in foreign lands" (Gary B. McGee, an Assemblies of...

    Repeating themes in Revelation

Yes indeed. As we used to say in the '60's, "It's been real dude!" Enjoyed it. God bless.

    Repeating themes in Revelation

We're just going to have to agree to disagree here. I find it completely compatible to a literal 7 year view. Revelation is literature, and I've read a lot of fiction and non-fiction with historical flashbacks or references or whatever you want to call it. Just finishing today a 300 page book...

    Repeating themes in Revelation

My brother wrote a book which was a combination biography of John R. Rice and a polemic against slavery. It had a modern perspective, but dealt with an ancestor of ours who had slaves in Missouri. Thus, it is a modern polemic with historical perspective. (See it at The Sword of the Lord: The...

Finding the right definition of a word in the Greek

I love doing it, and never think of it as tedious. It does take time and thought, though. And it is a gift of God, so that not anyone can do it. Wannabes are not welcome. In one of his early books, Eugene Nida told the story of a man who wrote the United Bible Society and said, "If you would...

    Repeating themes in Revelation

It's not a big problem to me at all. I have a much harder time interpreting the book allegorically than I do with a plain sense historical reference. There are so many, many things in the book of Revelation that an allegorical interpretation cannot answer. When we allow allegorical...

Finding the right definition of a word in the Greek

Download e-sword for free at: e-Sword: Free Bible Study for the PC. It has good (though quite old) lexicons, easily accessible, for the Hebrew OT (BDB lexicon) and the Greek NT (Thayer's). Look at the passage for the context, then choose the meaning in the lexicon that best fits the meaning in...

    Gender-neutral Versions

Every time the original text is the plural of anthropos (ἄνθρωπος) it is possible to translate it as "people." On the hand, aner (ἀνήρ), occurring in 193 verses, should almost always be translated "man" or "husband." But footnotes are great. I love 'em!

    Gender-neutral Versions

Once again this is anthropos, and can by the best linguistics be translated as "persons," including men and women, because it is a plural. I think "humanity" is a mistake, though. That's a singular, and inaccurate.

    Gender-neutral Versions

I just saw my daughter-in-law: fluent in her native language (she's not from here) and English, has studied Greek, has two masters' and a nursing degree. But more than that, she is an awesome wife to my only son, and wonderful mother to my two granddaughters. It's a sin to elevate her...
