Yes, Matt, you just happened to pick the most liberal and outspoken group in the whole of Canada. That is the one group pushing for gay priests, etc., which is causing a possible split amongst Anglicans. The issue has been tabled until the Bishops meet next year (I think).

I know when I came home to England, I used to preach the whole month in Anglican Churches and they were all conservative.

I grew up in the high church, and even though we genuflected in aisle and crossed ourselves, we were evangelical. That is where I came to know Christ as Saviour, during my confirmation classes......So, the CofE can't be all that bad,,,:saint:

These pub nights typically turn into ad hoc pastoral sessions: we have about half a dozen or so young men in the military in our church (we're close to Portsmouth, which is a big naval city and there are several naval bases within a 10 miles radius plus one or two army places) who get deployed from time to time in Afghanistan. One of our worship leaders, an older guy, is ex-military and, over a few pints and some potato chips he and others of us listen to their hopes and fears, pray for them and, where appropriate, give advice to them.

Why are we told not to look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup?

It seems to me that our concept of wine is drastically different from the Biblical concept of wine.

I was thinking about the alcohol content of wine in the Bible. Thinking back on Noah, studies I have done in the past led me to believe the most righteous man on earth was taken by surprise by the strength of the wine he took into his body. Why? These were not normal circumstances. The amount of oxygen would have changed in purity and amount with a global flood and the disasters it caused. Heat, oxygen and elevation certainly do play a role in fermentation. Do you honestly believe that the atmospheric changes wouldn't affect biological processes simply because "transparent glass containers weren't in regular use"?

That's simply not logical.

Even small changes affect how yeast works. The flood was a (extremely scientific adjective warning) GINORMOUS change.

I bake. A lot. When I move I have to adjust yeast containing recipes to altitude and temps. When I proof yeast, surroundings temperatures definitely play a role in time despite using the same equipment. Humidity always is taken into account when baking. Elevation always must be taken into account.

Your statements don't appear to acknowledge even the basics of science and how it works. Where did gain your knowledge to write books on the matter? What are some of these books? I'd like to glance through them.

And...I do find it odd that what I said has the strong potential of backing up your beliefs even more than mine, yet you didn't take the time to see it. Are you LOOKING for an argument? If so, why? You disagree with people who disagree with you. You disagree with people who agree with you.
