I learned how to vet my sources while getting my degree in physical therapy.
Using a scholarly vetted source, Jama, there is this clinical study results released yesterday, March 27th, demonstrating that 5 critically ill patients with ARDS, which has a very poor survival rate, received plasma treatments and all 5 improved. This looks promising for a cure:
Treatment of 5 Critically Ill Patients With COVID-19 With Convalescent Plasma
Results All 5 patients (age range, 36-65 years; 2 women) were receiving mechanical ventilation at the time of treatment and all had received antiviral agents and methylprednisolone. Following plasma transfusion, body temperature normalized within 3 days in 4 of 5 patients, the SOFA score decreased, and Pao2/Fio2 increased within 12 days (range, 172-276 before and 284-366 after). Viral loads also decreased and became negative within 12 days after the transfusion, and SARS-CoV-2–specific ELISA and neutralizing antibody titers increased following the transfusion (range, 40-60 before and 80-320 on day 7). ARDS resolved in 4 patients at 12 days after transfusion, and 3 patients were weaned from mechanical ventilation within 2 weeks of treatment. Of the 5 patients, 3 have been discharged from the hospital (length of stay: 53, 51, and 55 days), and 2 are in stable condition at 37 days after transfusion.
Conclusions and Relevance In this preliminary uncontrolled case series of 5 critically ill patients with COVID-19 and ARDS, administration of convalescent plasma containing neutralizing antibody was followed by improvement in their clinical status. The limited sample size and study design preclude a definitive statement about the potential effectiveness of this treatment, and these observations require evaluation in clinical trials.

I heard from Rudy Giuliani on Fox that NY started 250 people on this yesterday. I hope it works. If their death rate drops then I'd say we're on a roll. Current death rate 1.3%.

a few years ago i almost lost my kidney function due to a kidney infection (big time).
i was put on a hydroxychloroquine regimen which saved my kidneys and possibly my life.
but it left behind peripheral neuropathy in my left hand.
a small price to pay so that i need not spend the rest of my life in need of dialysis.

Note that Gov Whitmer had not even requested FEMA assistance, yet went on every program to say the Trump admin. was not helping Michigan. Update: the President said NY has started 1,100 patients on hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax on March 27th.
They also got quick approval for plasma on critical patients and are starting that.

Abbott Labs developed a fast test for the virus with results in a few minutes.
To open up the economy if we do massive large scale testing, we can know who is infected, and the non infected people can go about their lives and the infected people go into quarantine to get better or die, they can no longer spread the virus around to everyone who is not infected. No more shall everyone be isolated away from jobs and life, but all can go freely about their way versus shelter in place orders which do not work.
We would still need to isolate clear and cleaned community areas to keep them from being infected again. But within the clean areas life could resume some sense of normalcy. This could require a strong lock down, even arrest of sorts for those infected because even one infected person could begin the disease spread again. However if recovered people could guard those being isolated would be good because they are immune and the virus can not escape past them. Envision pockets of diseased areas withing clean communities. After 14 days, most or 80% would be free to resume normal community free life as they will have been cured. The other 20% may need to be hospitalized so they are in effect arrested. by the hospital and not free to leave.
Authorities locked down Typhoid Mary so she could no longer kill any more people, and they did that against her will. But with Covid patients most will recover so this is just a temporary 14 day restraint for most. The way things are being done now, people are fleeing infected places like NYC and spreading the virus all over the place. Same thing happened with spring breakers in Florida.
Here is a video that vividly shows what happens when people are free to move about unhindered.

It seems whenever I hear of the combination of Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin that the 3rd ingredient and critically important element, Zinc, is left out. Zinc interrupts the function of the virus high jacking the cell but has difficulty getting in the cell to do this, but Hydroxychloroquine is an ionophore that opens the way for Zinc to get into the cell and is what makes it effective. The Z-Pac “merely” helps with typical secondary infections due to inflammation in the lungs. The other important element concerning the use of this treatment is that it needs to used be used early on. Neglecting using this treatment early on and/or not including Zinc severely diminishes its effectiveness.
I'm afraid that the trail in NY of 1,100 is being used later in the stage which might downplay the effectiveness and if the Zinc is not part of this combination that this trial's results could be flawed concerning how effective it could actually be.

Another drug showing good results with intubated people with ARDS. FDA is fast tracking the study. People are getting off the respirators using this. This drug halts the cytokine storm which floods the lungs causing pneumonia and death. Results have been so good, they expect 6 weeks to FDA approval.

This forum can't be the only group of people noticing all the positive news as far as curing this virus.
This epidemic will turn out to be nothing more than a slightly more dangerous variant of the flu, because of the progress made on the various drugs. Some of the new vaccines target the way all corona viruses replicate using viral RNA, so the idea is one vaccine could slay them all and future mutations. Maybe the cure will also destroy common colds caused by corona virus.

I’ve told you before, she has done nothing for Michigan except propose huge tax increases which would be divvied up not just to the problem at hand, but to all the other dim wish lists. This is their answer to everything. If they ‘help’ you with the pressing need, it’s gonna cost you to cover their ‘needs.’
