Again, a dead child abuser can’t abuse any more... it is impossible. Thus there isn’t a problem for anyone who was abused. Doesn’t He say it would be better for the abuser if he were dead?
A dead person no longer has the opportunity to believe the gospel unto salvation.

peace to you

Normally, never say never
One experience should not make a policy. How bout all the Catholic priests who use their station as the kindly religious, consistently abuse and are found out, only to be shipped off to another parish to resume his lecherous child abuse on other innocent children. Then who is the true culprit in the continuous defiling of kids? I only seek to put an end to it. Now most of these criminals know that their child abuse crimes work against them with many convicts who see them as detestable human beings ... so they suddenly get religion in prison, becoming model inmates, perhaps Bible study leaders blah blah blah. That may help to shield them, even get them early parole. However after release, you’ve only to watch and wait.

I fail to see how loving one’s enemies should include allowing them to perpetrate crimes against neighbors or family, but that is what some of the views expressed here seem to amount to.

I agree with serial killer Ted Bundy on this. The night before his scheduled execution, he stated that society had a responsibility to protect society from people like him via the death penalty.

No one should enjoy seeing even violent criminals executed for their crimes. However, a reduced lifespan would not preclude their salvation. If anything, facing death would help them focus on what is most important, their eternal destiny.

Father Capperelli ( Father Cappy ) we called him was brought in to take over for the ailing Monsignor who ruled his mostly Italian congregation for many years... and the people loved him. Young and charming and everything that the old Monsignor was not. He (Cappy) regularly spent time with the youth of the community, and he could be seen hugging and cuddling them, giving them rides in his car... you know. Now my mother always warned my not to get to chummy with priests so I kind of used it as an excuse not to serve as an alter boy as well as other Catholic traditions. This church was our families ancestral home church and we were all baptized in it. Anyway, I went to it when I was in Pennsylvania however we had moved to Jersey so I wasn’t real plugged into St. Mary’s. One weekend however we were visiting my grandparents in PA and I was playing street basketball with my friends and that big black car drove up and out popped Fr. Cappy with his black clothing, white collar and balding pate. Grinning from ear to ear he shouted, “you guys stink” .. let me show you how it’s done. Nice guy right, oh look the Father is being kind to the local kids right. So the invite was then, “come on, hop in we will go for a ride!” What a saint, what a man of God. Only mom had warned me and so I begged off. A few weeks later Father Cappy was arrested and charged. And he became famous in PA for being the most notorious pedofile in the history of the state... he even spread disease to those boys, some he almost killed & others he just mentally destroyed. God was with me that day.

It doesn’t change the command of Christ in 1 Timothy 1:15-16 to follow the example of Jesus and show mercy to the worst sinners, even murderers like Paul.

I guess if following the commands of Christ were easy we wouldn’t need indwelling Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth.

peace to you

I’m showing mercy. Death shows mercy to a miserable wretch who incapable of showing mercy to his victims. Then I’m showing mercy to those that have been wounded by this pedophiles reckless disregard for his victim. Lastly I’m showing mercy to the future victims that will never know his filth and depravity. So how is that being unkind?

Jesus changed the standard from “two or three witnesses” implementing the death penalty to “the one without sin” being the one to implement the death penalty.
False. The Law required both the man and the woman to be put to death. Jesus said what he said to allow them not to put the man to death too. And so let the woman go.

1) do you believe in using deadly force for self defense?
Are you willing to die, not defending yourself instead of using deadly force, or even for your family by upholding Christ's teachings about non-violence? Only a few can do this.

God controls all things, even child abusers. But it is not your calling to kill anyone no matter the reason. It's the magistrate's duty.

So you are serving on a jury - would you vote to issue the death penalty - if you were 100% sure of their guilt.
Yes. But it's not my calling to bear the sword. It belongs to the magistrate who cannot follow Christ's teachings in that capacity.

Carla Fate Tucker was a crack addicted prostitute that was guilty of the pick axe murder of an elderly couple in their own home.

Her execution came up in 2000, during the presidential election. George Bush was governor of Texas, and running for President.

What got me to reconsider my support of the DP, was a well known preacher, also a supporter of DP, who stated in her case, he felt a commutation was appropriate because, in his opinion, she had a genuine conversion to Christianity.

I thought, wait just a second!! That’s the standard for mercy? If we believe they have a “genuine” conversion?

I began researching and came to the position I now hold.

peace to you
Everyone has his/her won view of the DP. As a "Lawn Odor" person & a former cop, I'm in favor of using it more, & that won't change. "To each, according to the dictates of his/her own conscience."

In the Rostov region of Russia, a serial killer, Andrei Chikatilo, operated for some 12 years. Russial even asked Scotland yard for help in identifying this killer. Finally, he was IDd & arrested.

He received a trial better than anyone in America has ever received! He was given a battery of the best defense lawyers in Russia, & was allowed to call in as many expert witnesses as he wished. He was on trial for 52 murders, while still a suspect in several more. His trial lasted several months. He was found guilty & given the DP.

He was housed in Novocherkassk Prison, in Rostov, from where he filed an appeal for clemency to then-Pres. Boris Yeltsin, who rejected it. Shortly afterward, one evening, he was taken from his cell by a quaternion of soldiers to a soundproof room in the prison, & tied to a chair. One of the soldiers shot him in the back of the head with his Moisin-Nagant rifle, & a detail of inmates was brought in to clean up the mess, place Chikatilo's body into a body bag, & load it into the back of an unmarked panel truck, which drove off into parts unknown. The next day, news of the execution was released to the news media.

That's the way executions should be done here, IMO.

No thank you. I don’t think the communist model of justice is better than USA.

Your idea of “showing mercy” is in direct contradiction of scripture and the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Does that matter to you?
