My question to you Biblicist, is will you trust in God this very day to keep you clean and pure and free from sin? Is anything too hard for the Lord? Let's purpose in our hearts this very day to put God to the test.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

A very sanctimonious post indeed, and a post which totally avoids the point that the Biblicist makes. Why don't you stay on topic and answer his post instead?

This passage should give us all reason to contemplate carefully our intentions to either sin this day or trust in God to deliver us from sin.

1Jn 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

My question to you DHK, is will you trust in God this very day to keep you clean and pure and free from sin, or will you purpose in your heart to have your own way inspite of God's profferred and promised help?

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

And do you do this to the letter all the time every day, or do you just try?

Now go back and answer Biblicist's post or don't post again.

Again, your texts are driven by inferences directly contradictive to the plain and explicit direct address of the Apostle to this very issue in Philippians 3:12-14. Paul answers your challenge in that very text THREE DIFFERENT TIMES while still denying anyone is able to "ATTAIN" being "PERFECT." Deal with my post and stop ignoring it.

HP: Biblicist, you are driving your text by inferences directly contradictive to the plain and explicit promise made by GOD HIMSELF no less, in 1Cor 10:13 as well as numerous other passages as well. God answers your challenge to me making it indeed perfectly clear that HE has made a promise to help us overcome every temptation that may come our way. The question is simple. Will you believe God and avail yourself to His promise, or disregard the promises of God to have it your way?

    Stop ignoring God's promises.

I am answering this post since you asked the same of me but I could not trim the post to me in the quote on my iPad.

Yes, I trust that God can do anything but the question is this: Has He ever kept one human being, save Jesus Christ, free from sin?

All I can say is let me speak to these men's wives. We will know for sure if they are sinless then.....

Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Luk 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

HP: Here are two such clear examples in Scriptures, of those who were perfect in the eyes of God and walking in daily obedience to His commands and even ordinances.

Even if there was not one such example in Scripture, and all we had is the promises of God, or if it was said that no one ever walked a day without sinning and all we had were the promises of God to keep us from sin, I would believe God's promises are true.

What you seem to be bent on doing, we are warned by God not to engage in. You seem to want to see if someone else has taken God at His Word, or if someone else has obeyed God by trusting His promises, and then deciding to either believe and follow God's commands to walk perfect before Him based on what others have or may have not done in your estimation. Here is a Scriptural warning of such an approach.

2Co 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

The question to all of us remains. Will we, not our friend or our neighbor, nor in their eyes or the eyes of our spouses, believe God and trust Him alone to keep us from sin this very day?

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I have purposed in my heart to believe God and trust Him to keep me from sin this very day. How could anyone do less that claims to love and believe God?

    You "purpose".
And yet if you are truthful with all you will admit that you sin every day.
That is the truth isn't it? Why be proud and sanctimonious on the board?
Why not be humble and admit that you are a sinner and have need of daily confession of sin? It is far better to be the latter and then the former.

I do not have to drive Philippians 3:12-14 by any kind of inference as it plainly denies that Paul could "attain" being "perfect."

1 Cor. 10:17 does not promise that God will help them "attain" being "perfect! It only asserts that God will provide a way to escape temptation IF they are willing to take it. It does not guarantee they will take it. Nor does it guarantee any human will always take it.

However, you are assuming some will always take it and thus "attain" being "perfect" which directly contradicts Philippians 3:12-14!

Hence, you are INFERRING what the text neither says or promises and you are INFERRING directly opposite to what Philippians 3:12-14 clearly and explicitly denies.

Php 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

I believe the Apostle Paul wrote these words as well.

HP: A very telling statement as to your willingness to trust in a clear simple promise, a promise so simple and plain that a wayfaring man though a fool can understand, to us from God.

"Sanctimonious" to take God at His Word in faith believing? If you are serious in this condemnation or condescension of my remarks concerning this promise of God , take it up with the God that promised it, not me, a simple messenger merely quoting Him.

You know not of what you speak. You don't even know the meaning of the verses you quote. You are a very confused person.

HP: A false allegation (lie) due to the fact you are not my judge and have nothing whatsoever to prove your false allegations by. When are you going to stop lying, saying things concerning the daily lives of others you know nothing about?

I don't believe we can be completely free from sin in this life, or become perfect in this life; I believe only Jesus was that.

Contrary to what Wesley taught, I affirm this from the Book of Common Prayer -- prayers of the people:

    "Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
    in thought, word, and deed,
    by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
    We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
    have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
    and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen"

The word "perfect" in this verse means mature. It doesn't mean without sin.
