If Jesus died for all, and all are not saved, how are people saved?

I was reading an article on "Particular Atonement" at Ligonier.org, and John 10 is used to support this view. What other passages are used to defend this view? I don't doubt this view, but I'm trying to understand it better. I appreciate the way you explain things.

    How May We Know?

It may sound a little silly, but I had not realized the full meaning of Hebrews 12:2 until just now. Thank you for explaining. I still have some "un-learning" to do to fully understand Limited Atonement, but I'm getting there.

    How May We Know?

Thank you. That was very thoughtful.

    How May We Know?

Although I "converted" to Reformed Theology fairly recently, I still have trouble fully understanding some concepts. Could you elaborate on how you know you are believe because you are saved? I'm sure it has to do with being drawn to Christ, and it should be simple. I just need a little help...

Welcome to the BB forum, @DaveXR650. This is a great place for discussing a wide variety of topics. The people here have a wide variety of views on a variety of topics. Even when we disagree, we manage to keep the discussions (mostly) civil. I am a fairly recent "convert" to Reformed...

    Judge Not

Yes. There is no way we could get inside someone's head to know their motives. Only God knows the intentions of the heart.

    Judge Not

While not in the same context as the "righteous judgment" passage, the "judge not" passage was quoted in the first post of this thread, and I wanted to address it. "Judge not, that you be not judged" (Matthew 7:1-5) is often misinterpreted to mean that we are never to judge anyone else...

    Judge Not

In this passage, it appeared to the Jews that Jesus was violating the Sabbath by healing a man on that day. Likewise, a man might appear to be following God's laws because he had been circumcised. Jesus is telling them to look beyond the external appearances of the Law's requirements, and see...

False prophets and their many books

Actually, when I compare the teachings of Sproul, Spurgeon, et al to God's Word, I find those teachings align quite well. On the other hand, I really don't find Scriptural support for your claims. If we were not in danger of being fooled by false teachings, the NT would not contain so many...

False prophets and their many books

@poor-in-spirit, “Life saving advice”? Really? Aren’t you are assuming that me (and those with whom you disagree on this thread) are NOT guided by the Holy Spirit? You seem to be convinced that everyone who reads extra-Biblical material lets that material replace the Supreme Authority of...

False prophets and their many books

When you don’t have a valid argument, you play the “Calvinist” card. This seems to be no different from the way liberals play the “racist” card. You seem to assume everyone else on this thread is a Calvinist. Clearly several are not. What does that matter anyway? Calvinists base their views...

False prophets and their many books

Your claim echos Joseph Smith, who (allegedly) prayed to his god about which church denomination he should join. Smith wrote in 1820 the following in the Mormon Scripture Pearl of Great Price: "I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong". You might want to either...

False prophets and their many books

Au contraire, Brother. There is nothing new under the sun, and you are far from the first to suggest that we should study Scripture only and depend upon the Holy Spirit to guide us. I can't help but wonder who had influence upon you that you hold this opinion. How could you possibly know that...

False prophets and their many books

Doesn't your reply indicate that you are claiming to have "the corner on the truth"? Of course you are influenced by men's opinions. Unless you live on a desert island all by yourself, we all are. Even the "Jesus Said What" website you provided a link to earlier is evidence of that. Are you...

False prophets and their many books

What do you mean? My comment had nothing to do with Calvinism. I noticed that you didn't answer the points I made in the post you quoted.

False prophets and their many books

The web site in your link is yet another of men's views, just as surely as any book by Billy Graham or R.C. Sproul. How is this supposed to be different from listening to theologians and Biblical teachers? How are the views expressed in the "Jesus said what" site any more reliable than books...

False prophets and their many books

@MB, don't you find it just a bit ironic that you, an extra-Biblical source, are trying to teach us about how we should only be taught by Scripture and the Holy Spirit? How can "iron sharpen iron" unless we know what insight others have on the Scriptures? Do you not think that the Holy Spirit...

    Conservative News Media

I believe Newsmax is the most conservative and trustworthy (I especially enjoy watching Chris Salcedo). I also like OAN, but don't tune in very often. Fox News seems to be turning more to the Left, although I still watch a few programs there. I make sure to watch "Life, Liberty, & Levin"...

There is no Millennium according to Jesus

Now it's all making sense. It's ironic that by adding this teaching to God's word, they are the ones who fail to heed Christ's warning in Revelation 22:19.

There is no Millennium according to Jesus

[EDIT - I originally posted that I didn't quite get it. Then I read the rest of the posts.] I didn't quite get it until you posted this: "The reign of peace, lasting one thousand years, which will precede the Last Judgment and the future life. The concept has assumed especial importance in the...
