What is the Religion of the Beast

Instead of a "complete denial of God's Prophetic Word", Preterism sees the fulfillment of God's Prophetic Word. You claim this perverts Revelation and Daniel based on nothing more than a "futurist" view. Your bias against Preterism is keeping you from an honest discussion here. You started...

What is the Religion of the Beast

Contrary to your final paragraph above, the average Preterist has put a great deal of effort into studying prophecy. You would be surprised at how much we are alike regarding prophecy study. Like you, I am certain of some of my interpretations, but not all of them. Also, I do try to keep an...

    "I Think My Dog's a Democrat"

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, you had to show one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. Oddly enough, I quoted the same line to a new friend on Saturday.:D

Democrats target Trump family in new probe

Unfortunately, no surprises here. Not that we would expect anything different.

    "I Think My Dog's a Democrat"

Could be insulting to the dog, but the best humor is rooted in truth.

    Partial Preterism 2

Jesus did not say that deceit, false christs, wars, famines, earthquakes, tribulation, or false prophets would end in AD 70. He was pointing to the specific judgment on Jerusalem that came in the Jewish War of AD 66-70. Those who endured did not perish. The Gospel has been preached in all the...

What is the Religion of the Beast

How does preterism "cheapen" the return of Christ? Whether He came in judgment in AD 70 or we still look to His 2nd Advent, His coming is just as glorious, and still fulfills the Father's plan.

What is the Religion of the Beast

Brother, I had been under the impression that this was a forum to actually discuss our different views. In this case, to answer what our views are regarding the "religion of the Beast". Obviously only one view is going to be correct, and even then we can't be positive. Is this turning into a...

What is the Religion of the Beast

The only reason I believe this is not a popular "Baptist" view is because it could weaken the "futurist" views. We disagree on the timing, but agree in principle that "the Beast" points to Rome.

    Partial Preterism 2

There is no Biblical support for the Jews building a 3rd temple. They did see the rest of your "short list", though.

What is the Religion of the Beast

Yes, the Roman Empire did nearly collapse from within with the "Year of the Four Emperors" before Vespasian took over. "The Beast" refers to both Rome and Nero. That's why Nero's suicide supports this case. Still not sure about the details of Rev. 19:20. This may refer to final judgment...

    Partial Preterism 2

While the disciples did ask two questions, they were related. The context was the same setting. In Matthew 24:34, Jesus told them that everything He had spoken in answer to both questions would be fulfilled within the lifetime of their generation.

What is the Religion of the Beast

I'll be leaving shortly for a nice long weekend, and wanted to reply to this. (I didn't want to quote your entire post, as it is pretty long.) I would just like to compliment you as a scholar and a gentleman. Not only do you use these sources, but you explain them well. Take care, Brother...

    Partial Preterism 2

To dovetail on that question, what events did the generation that Jesus spoke to NOT see? (Just a "heads up", but I'll only be here for another 45 minutes, then my wife and I are heading our for a nice long weekend.)

What is the Religion of the Beast

I thought that was what you had in mind. Personally, I believe this was emperor worship. The Beast whose fatal wound had been healed was the Roman Empire, which nearly collapsed with Nero's suicide in AD 68. Vespasian restored Rome in 69. Roman society was all about worshipping lots of gods...

What is the Religion of the Beast

True, the quakes occurred earlier. Still, it shows this area was prone to frequent earthquakes. Maybe it still is. True, "earth" could refer to the entire region, but it could also refer to Jerusalem. You made a reference to the Euphrates drying up (Rev. 16:12). I can neither confirm nor...

What is the Religion of the Beast

If you don't mind a silly question, what specific verses in Revelation imply a one-world religion?

What is the Religion of the Beast

I must respectfully disagree about the persecutions under Decius or Diocletian being worse than Nero's. That's not to make light of the others you mentioned. Our brothers and sisters in the Middle East are persecuted and killed at an alarming rate, and it seems that many Americans are unaware...

What is the Religion of the Beast

Interesting. I'd never run across that interpretation of that verse before. Fair questions, Brother. I believe "the world" and "the earth" in the verses you quote refer to Jerusalem and the surrounding area. How did He intervene? As I see it, these passages refer to His coming in judgment...

What is the Religion of the Beast

While it makes sense that our population will continue to grow until His return, where does Scripture say that it will diminish some in the last days?
