No matter what kind of translation, to translate the whole canon of Scripture from the original languages to English will require many more words. There is no way around it. It's not a matter of "can result." It will certainly result.

America trails most of the rest of the developed world.

I've been back in the USA since May of 2018. But I returned twice to China to retrieve my books, see my friends and get dental work. That's a given.

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

Ephesians 2:1: "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." Ephesians 2:4,5 : "But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions --it is by grace you have been saved." Colossians 2:13 : "When you...

America trails most of the rest of the developed world.

Medical and dental vacations to far-flung regions of the world are becoming very popular. Depending on the procedure, the cost might be less than the price of the airline ticket.

Hi Tom. I too have have had excellent dental work done in China for one fifth the price of that in America. I went to Dental Doctor which is a chain. It may also be in South Korea. Dental Doctor was clean, modern and professional with wonderful charm. If I had gone to a hospital for my dental...

America trails most of the rest of the developed world.

I had stomach surgery in China. I was the only Western patient. The surgeon was excellent. But yes, the way the hospital was run was under par. I had eye surgery in Hong Kong. Which was a minor deal. But I think the level of care is top-notch. I haven't been to Singapore, but I would think it...

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

Are you under the impression that gives saving light to all? If He meant that then all would be saved. Christ is the Light of the world. He gives the light of creation and conscience to all people (see Ro. 1:18-20 and 2:14,15) He gives the light of the Bible and the light that comes by the...

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

How in the name of all that's sane can you regard people perishing as believers in 1 Cor.1:18? The same type of individual is found in 1 Cor. 2:14 --an unbeliever --the Holy Spirit of God is not within that person --a perishing individual. In those two passages there is no way that an honest...

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

Yes, when Christ said "When I am lifted up from the earth" spoke of the sort of death he would experience. And yes, Caiaphas, foretold that it wouldn't be for those among the Jewish nation, but also for the scattered children of God around the world. All of the aforementioned are the elect. I...

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

You didn't insert a :-) face. Everyone thus drawn does not = the entire human race, but the elect alone.

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

The drawing of John 6:44 always unites the one drawn by the Father to Jesus. Every single one thus drawn is raised up at the last day.

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

I said, they must believe in "some type of Universalism." If one believes that God's drawing can be resisted, then He is not the Mighty God of the Scriptures.

    "Is King James Onlyism Scriptural?"

Do you 'have' a problem with good English Y-1? Of course you do. "...we have a very good KJV for today." "....to clear up many archaisms, but KJVOs don't appreciate the NKJV." I have told you many times that you need to use the NIrV. It would help you with your English. No kidding.

1 Corinthians 2:14 does not teach total inability

MB and Mitch must believe in some type of Universalism. Because of Christ draws all of humanity to Himself, before and after the cross --why are so many in eternal torment? Why have so many died with no repentance and no forgiveness of sin? Christ meant that people from among all nations, tribes...

You have gotten the basic idea that in most cases there cannot be a one-to-one correspondence between the original and the receptor language right? So in your favorite translation which is the NASB-95 (unless the LEB is your current fav) there are about 300,000 'extra' words. I say 'extra'...

'How Gender Neutral Bible Translations Endanger Christian Marriage

Many women feel excluded from verses rendered the way you want. Besides, what I said in an earlier post holds true. Many English translations like the NIV are read by folks where English is not their first language. Why erect barriers?

You should be praising God for all the translations out there. And they're not just being read in countries where English is their first language.

Do you realize that you can delete #74? All you did was quote a post of mine with no comment from you.

'How Gender Neutral Bible Translations Endanger Christian Marriage

Yes, because everyone, not just adult males are blessed. "Blessed is the one [anyone, male or female, young, old or middle-aged] who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers."
