Do these scriptures deny human RESPONSIBILITY?

The fact that God holds all men responsible strongly implies men can respond (given that is the very meaning of the word), thus only a very clear teaching which indicates otherwise would bring that implication into question. Romans 1 goes a very long way to suggest that all men are indeed...

    Romans 8:8

Until the redemption of our bodies, we are all in the flesh. This simply means that while acting in the flesh (carnally, which even the brethren do at times) we will not please the father. It says nothing about our inability to respond to him in faith to gain life.

    Response-able??

Why couldn't these Jewish leaders see that Jesus was the Christ? Was it because they were born Totally Depraved and thus by nature unable to see, hear, understand and turn to God for healing? ORRRRRR "For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: "He has blinded...

    Response-able??

    1. That ignores the MANY other root definitions of the word RESPONSE-ABLE (amazing how one can ignore the two obvious roots of that word). 2. Even your attempt to skirt the clear meaning of the word RESPONSIBLE, by limiting it to 'answer to,' really doesn't help you much, because what is an...

    Response-able??

I agree, but we don't consider enabling one to freely respond a failure, while you do. We consider freedom to follow a necessity of true love. Anyone can create a robot who "loves" by programming, but clearly God doesn't do that. Why else would he say that the stones would cry out in worship...

Preacher4truth and EWF, THIS video is for you two... :)

Christ just a pill to take ?

lol. It's true, but I don't judge all the man's teachings based on that one strange view. Calvin has some pretty weird teachings too, but much of what he wrote was pure genius. I don't like dismissing all of what people taught based on their errors...otherwise all quotes would be inadmissible.

Do these scriptures deny human RESPONSIBILITY?

Yes. Men are responsible for their condition. God doesn't even tempt men to sin. He is completely Holy. My point exactly. Hopefully Biblicist acknowledges this as well. Yes. See Romans 1.

Do these scriptures deny human RESPONSIBILITY?

Further, if you read the immediate context of the Ezekiel passages you will find that human responsibility is very much validated: "Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will...

    Deuteronomy 5:29

Funny...while you were starting this thread I was starting a thread that answers this line of reasoning. You can read it HERE....

Do these scriptures deny human RESPONSIBILITY?

"I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh....I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 11:19 -...

1 Corinthians 2:14 - How does God explain truth?

I'm not letting you get away with making blanket declarations without BIBLICAL support. I've shown you specific texts which CLEARLY teach that hardening is something men BECOME after years of rebellion. You are PRESUMING onto the text that all people would necessarily rebel against any level...

1 Corinthians 2:14 - How does God explain truth?

EXACTLY! Judicial hardened (from God) is merely his blinding them from the clearly revealed truth for a time. This is comparable to a police officer hiding his presence so that the speeder will continue speeding. The cop is not making the speeder speed, he is only ensuring that his presence...

    Could God impart independency

Actually, the parent COULD drug the child making them desire to obey, right? Apparently, some think that is the only way God could work to accomplish his purposes...through irresistible means. This is such a small view of the divine, IMO...having to play both sides of the chess board to...

Christ just a pill to take ?

Or we could waste our time talking about Calvin's murder of Servetus? Or Luther's strange belief regarding flatulence as a dispelling of an evil spirit? Or Augustine's varies strange doctrines regarding infant baptism and the sort. Some people would rather play "guilt by association" games...

1 Corinthians 2:14 - How does God explain truth?

Response to "BIBLICIST" formerly known as Dr. Walter I understand your perspective regarding the two (almost bi-polar, or multi-personality like) dueling natures within man. And while I agree that we war with our flesh, I don't believe I go as far as you appear to go in your conclusions...

1 Corinthians 2:14 - How does God explain truth?

As explained, the corporate view of election does NOT deny the individual application of election or hardening. If a nation is hardened then certainly individuals within that nation will be hardened. It is a matter of APPLICATION. Pharaoh is referenced as one who foreshadowed Israel, in that...

1 Corinthians 2:14 - How does God explain truth?

Just as their are innumerable Christians who have read the 'truths' of doctrine, yet we have disagreement. That is why we call men responsible...they are able to respond freely to the revelation they have been given. Because, the gospel ENABLES a respond, it doesn't do the responding. The...
