Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

Amy, why did you only ask InTheLight this? When Revmitchell posted a source you just responded with a simple "Thank you".

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

Did you read the whole article? -- It was the anti-Spanish group that introduced the king to George Villiers, reputedly one of the handsomest men in Europe. Through Villiers they sought a conduit to power. Even at the time it was thought unseemly that a lover should be provided for the king at...

Any one else think I slandered the Niv here?

It ain't so. As Christians, don't you agree that we need to be very careful about distributing misinformation?

Why isn't the Geneva Bible the "pefect translation?" Not KJV?

When are you gonna stop asking the same question over and over again?

    Final Authority and Final Canonization

Agreed, but its probably the next best thing!

Do you see A Difference between Inerrancy/Infallibility?

You said you just accept the KJV as inerrant by faith, but it sounds like your faith is actually placed in facts and reasoning, and by the translators that "determined" what was Scripture and what was not Scripture.

MUST We hvae A perfect bible To have it be word of God?

Please, start this as a new topic; I'd like to see your scriptural proof.

    inaccurate renderings in the KJV

I don't really have a problem with the KJV's rendering "unicorn". How accurate or precise can any translation be when no one knows what animal was intended?

Do you see A Difference between Inerrancy/Infallibility?

It is dishonest to ask for something (like evidence) when you really don't want it (have no intention of considering responders' efforts).

Do you see A Difference between Inerrancy/Infallibility?

So, in which post were you being disingenuine, Winman? When you wrote you believe the KJV to be mistake-free by faith, or when you asked for someone to show you a mistake?

Do you see A Difference between Inerrancy/Infallibility?

Winman, did you miss this? You asked.

    Missing Verses

Yes well, Logos never claimed he was offering an exhaustive list. I have read the KJV3 by Jay Green, and several other TR-based New Testaments. A really good one is the Wesley version (1755) and available online at http://wesley.nnu.edu/john-wesley/the-new-testament-john-wesleys-translation/.

    Final Authority and Final Canonization

Welcome. However, since you have dropped in with such bold statements I will reserve my right to see if your sincerity is still around in a couple of years.

Do you see A Difference between Inerrancy/Infallibility?

Inerrancy means "without error"; infallible means "incapable of being fallible". This is simply how I define these terms. INFALLIBILITY: It is possible that a book could have an error and yet still be infallible. Error does not cause fallibility. That is, a technical error may not necessarily...

    Vulgarity in translation

Some words are considered profane under certain circumstances; consider -- A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. (Deu 23:2) And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride...

    Missing Verses

"Exclude" is a term of comparison. So the question is: are verses 'excluded' as compared to _____ ? (a standard is required in the blank)

KJVO Claim BOTH Nasb/Niv Deny Deity of Christ!

The best way to find out is to read them for yourself. They have tended to target the NASB and the NIV because those translations were two of the better-selling among evangelicals.

    The Bible - History Channel

Is any one still watching the series? I've seen three parts now. Bible? History? In my opinion it is neither 'biblical' (since it does not follow the text), nor is it 'historical' (plenty of errors of historicity). Of course, I never expected it to be theologically instructive. Who did they...

    Which translation?

Bronconagurski, I also own this NIV, but never read that one straight through (reference only, so far); however, I did read a NIV formatted for daily reading (finishing in 1 year). If you have never done it before, reading the entire Bible straight through may be a challenge. I find summer the...
