Should a good Christian be patriotic?

This is not a political question! So which forum mod moved it? Ridiculous!!!

Should a good Christian be patriotic?

Don't worry... I (like Paul) retain my citizenship for diplomatic reasons. I come back frequently.

Should a good Christian be patriotic?

What say you? I say no. It's part of the reason why I left the USA. I wonder too, if patriotism is partly to blame for why the USA is not sending out as many missionaries. And by missionaries, I simply mean Christians who submit to Jesus as Lord and take the great commission seriously to...

The Most Popular and Fastest Growing Bible Translation Isn't What You Think It Is

The article doesn't give much of the proof and the phrasing is quite strange. It seems that some of their data was confirmed by google searches??? Really? Also, are the 55% exclusively reading the KJV and the 19% exclusively reading the NIV?

The Most Popular and Fastest Growing Bible Translation Isn't What You Think It Is

This is a curious result for 2 reasons: 1) it lumps the NKJV w/ the KJV (which is funny to me) 2) how can the NIV be the #1 selling Bible yet only used by 19%? Something doesn't add up. Are those people buying it for a door stop while they read their KJV? Or is this a conspiracy of the...

How do you see relationship between Biblical/Historical/Systematic theology?

Curious if you truly understand what the discipline of biblical theology is as opposed to the other disciplines such as historical, exegetical, or systematic.

    Luther Rice achieves ABHE

Baptist Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, PA has regional accreditation & ABHE. Faith Baptist Theological Seminary Ankeney, Iowas has regional accreditation. Multnomah Seminary has regional and ATS accreditation (not sure I could find any more though)

    Luther Rice achieves ABHE

Money in the bank, I'd ask for proof. But research centers have to have a library in order for research to take place. If a library is not adequate to facilitate said research, then it should not be considered for high standards. That does affect the education of the students. I've run into...

I prefer biblical theology. Here is what I have posted about it in the past on other threads: &

    Born or Fathered?

The reason I am saying that is b/c the determining factor for you seems to be guided by your theology. I'm not saying your assertion of "fathered" is necessarily wrong, only that the conclusion is guided more by your views. As I said, I think the point is moot b/c the idea is the same for...

    Born or Fathered?

I think that by your own admission of Matt. 1:16, that the nuance you are arguing for is really absent and forced. It fits your theology to say we were fathered by God but Jesus was born by Mary. But the idea is the same for both when applied theologically to salvation, thus the same word is...

    Born or Fathered?

You still didn't address Matt. 1:16 where "from" or "by" was used of Mary. Doesn't that indicate that there is not so much nuance in that word?

Should we put much stock in relatively NEW doctrine?

I think it needs to be pointed out that Christianity is not the first monotheistic religion to wrestle w/ this issue of God's sovereignty. 2nd temple Judaism has its debates too. Much of their apocalyptic literature assumes a more "calvie" view of God's sovereignty. There is no reason to not...

how many Calvinists here hold to Double predestination?

Supralapsarian here! (I am about to teach a 10th grade class that confirmed the doctrine of reprobation for me ;) )

    Born or Fathered?

So can we used "fathered" when it fits our theology? Or are you saying only when it gives the person which is doing the fathering? The problem is, the "of" is used of Mary in Matthew 1:16 like I pointed out (same word "of" as in 1:20 that you pointed out). So is Jesus fathered from Mary? Of...

    Born or Fathered?

Van, you need to speak on the ancient mindset and if they would distinguish between being born and being fathered. My guess is no. I am also curious how far you would take this. Does this apply in every instance of gennao? Does it refer to Jn 3:3 & 5 "being fathered again" or "fathered...
