1st Century Ms discovered? Wallace says so!

No... if it is truly a 1st century Ms, and considering how long it takes to produce and distribute Mss, it would push the writing of Mark pre-70... at least help that argument. So definitely more than 5-10 years. And why so negative??? It's like you are mad they may have found this possible...

Pre Mil, pre-trib (or mid trib) question

What Bible do you read where kids are innocent. Aren't we all born children of wrath with a sinful nature negatively disposed toward God? I think you missed my point. Some are so concerned that toddlers get raptured out too b/c the thought of them getting caught in the crossfire is abhorrent...

1st Century Ms discovered? Wallace says so!

It certainly increases the argument of the reliability of the NT. Part of Ehrman's argument is that the NT was written too much later after the facts and therefore unreliable. I am excited for other reasons. If true, this will help to establish the conservative dating for the original NT...

1st Century Ms discovered? Wallace says so!

Read here: http://www.dts.edu/read/wallace-new-testament-manscript-first-century/ Thoughts... comments... questions... Should we be skeptical of this???????? YES! But also hopeful.

Pre Mil, pre-trib (or mid trib) question

Oh the days of and discussions of dispensationalism. How I miss them ;) Seriously... you have faith that "God is not a monster who would enjoy harming little children"??? Have you not read about the universal flood destroying the world? Or how about God taking delight in removing the -ites...

    The SBC and Calvinism

Have you never read Augustine??? I'd say that the concept of calvinistic monergism goes back that far at least.

why Is Being a Literal translation seen as being "wooden/bad?"

My thing w/ literal is that first it doesn't really describe much. Does it mean that it sticks closer to the denotative meaning of words and word order and such? Does it mean that it gives the most basic, smallest amount of meaning that is bound up in the morphology and grammar and syntax of...

    Regeneration and Faith

I believe the clear biblical teaching is that one must sequentially (logically) be brought to life in order to believe. That is the only way that fits best w/ the presentation of humanity and its depravity.

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

You must really think the worst of me... not a trick question. I just think it is an interesting angle that has yet been mentioned. W/ text critical situations as it is, it makes it all the more confusing, especially when you throw the synoptic problem along with the mix. I don't mean to...

Should way take into account synoptic parallel accounts???

Dr. Phil Roberts Resigns Presidency of SBC's Mid Western Seminary

Yikes... if that abp is correct (seem a bit on the tabloid end of things), then something fishy is going on. Could you clarify how you think the SBC is headed into turbulent times? You piqued my interest.

Master's of Divinity and Master's of Theology

And I believe it is simply "master of divinity" or "master of theology". The word "master" is neither possessive (no need for the apostrophe then) nor plural (no need for the s).

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

So apparently you have me on ignore??? There is a word for this... but I'm not supposed to use that kind of language on this forum. ;)

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

You must have me on ignore b/c I have been saying this over and over and over again!!!

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

That's been my point!!! There is hardly any Mss support that considers the "angered" reading valid. It is very nearly a single Greek Ms reading! The Mss support it does have is all western. Not that I weigh Mss the same way as you, but even the early Alexandrian text have "compassion." The...

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

And this is an example of you writing very poorly, sir. Keep your snark and snide... it doesn't befit a pious individual such as yourself. Not matter the quotation, to say that the "harder reading" (which I am assuming you are referring to the "angered" reading) fits better then is to say...

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

First of all (since you don't have the decency to address me), have you read your posts? Your writings skills are greatly lacking. Perhaps it is your grammar or punctuation, but you have written confusing statements. You know there is an edit function, yes? Second, you are dodging now. I...

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

YOu didn't address anything. Your unclear writing mentioned some things, but it made no sense. So I ask again, how in v. 41 can Jesus be mad at the leper if in v. 40 he believed? Or is Jesus' indignation pointed elsewhere? If so, where and how does that fit the context AND have anything...

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

"Close call"??? What is close about it? That it is even considered a viable reading is due to its controversial internal evidence and not its scant external evidence. On internal evidence alone, the "compassion" reading wins out (and it aint close; wow I said "aint"). Next, are you sure...

2011 NIV Translation of Mark 1:41

If this post was not said in jest or sarcasm, then I'd have to wonder about the reading capabilities of the poster. Van, where in the discussion was the majority reading ever presented as questionable? Did you read more likely reasons why one might change "compassion" to "anger" besides a...
