    The Quaker revival

You're very welcome. I've been extensively studying different denominations for decades. I started doing that to try and figure out where I fit in, and I'm still wondering about that to this day. I think I'm a theological misfit.

    The Quaker revival

Friends reflect the broad theological divide that is present in Protestantism. There are the conservative evangelical Friends represented by the group I referenced. Then there are the 'moderates', represented by the Friends United Meeting, and finally the liberal Friends represented by the...

If we were still under the law...

Yes, I've studied those conflicts. An interesting question always to me has been, how much, if any, did Paul aler the teachings of the original apostles and Jesus. Some think he altered them a lot; others think not so much. I believe Paul highly valued his Roman citizenship; it allowed him...

    The Quaker revival

The group I was referring to is this one: Evangelical Friends Church International https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelical_Friends_Church_International Are you familiar with them?

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it in mind.

    The Quaker revival

I thought Quakers in the Pacidic Northwest were of the evangelical holiness variety.

If we were still under the law...

In my old age, I have learned to be more gracious with people, even with those that I strongly disagree with. To me, that is not weakness. After all, we all see through a glass, darkly. I have some firm beliefs, but the older I get, the less I know for certain. That has slowly dawned on me in...

If we were still under the law...

I think some of you are missing my point. Although you do make some good points of your own.

If we were still under the law...

So, what was its purpose then? It supposedly covered sins for a year. My point is this, especially for those who believe in the concept behind PSA: If you were still under the law, would you sacrifice an animal every year, to atone for your sins? If not, why not? The concepts behind PSA and...

If we were still under the law...

Because the concept is the same -- punishung and killing an innocent victim in the place of the guilty so that the guilty can go free.

If we were still under the law...

would you sacrifice an animal every year to atone for your sins? I would expect all PSA advocates to answer in the affirmative.

    Not going to Church???

I don't care for large chuches. I've never been to one.

    Not going to Church???

Unfortunately, the churches I've been a member of, as an adult, have not seemed to care to have anyhting to do with me away from the church, and some not much to do with me at the church!

    Not going to Church???

    Excellent! Exactly!

    That's an excellent post.

    What makes you a Baptist?

What online quiz was that? Maybe I need to take it. :)

    What makes you a Baptist?

Many denominations hold some of the Baptist Distinctives, but I don't know of any that hold all of them. I guess if they did, they'd be Baptists. :) BTW, what do you mean by a 'normative version'?

I believe I'm in a very similar condition to yours. So, I understand where you're coming from, and I don't say that lightly. BTW, I didn't take anyhting you said as being rude. Thanks for the invite to private messaging. I may do that.
