    Anyone here use Shelfari?

I think evanglist#### would like this. I'd be interested in seeing what other people are reading around here. My siggie is always linked to my blog page w/ the books I'm reading. Check it out.

    NT Wright

I think you will enjoy this. It will help give a good understanding of life after life after death (and yes I meant to put it like that). Now that I'm finished w/ my ThM, I haven't been reading that much. And my library is quite small because I use my pastor's library (he's a PhD in theology...

    NT Wright

That is a good book, but very heavy and a lot of info that some may find unimportant. He truly left no stone unturned. If you were inclined to read Wright, he does write on the lay level as well as the academic level. For example, his book Surprised by Hope hits on the salient points that I...

    Revised Dispensationalism

You're mixing points and making an argument I never made (strawman). I was dealing w/ separate issues. The basis for the kingdom is not resurrection per se. I never said that. The basis for new creation beginning is resurrection. Jesus begun the kingdom, and part of that was his cross-work...

    Revised Dispensationalism

I do not believe I said the world was getting better. I only said the kingdom of God is growing/expanding. As more believers submit to the reign of God and lordship of Jesus, it is growing/expanding. Just like Jesus said it would in Matthew 13.

    Revised Dispensationalism

Haven't I been saying that, though? I've never said the fullness of the Kingdom of God has arrived. But it has begun, it is expanding today, and one day it will reach its culmination at the return of Jesus. Roll credits!

Ron Rhodes & Intelligent Design and Old Earth Creationism

Then read it and review it yourself. Ignore what other people say and try to think for yourself.

    Online Textual Critical resources

NOBTS has unleashed their new online textual commentary (Philippians only). Looks to be a helpful guide. I still really like Laparola though. Very good info found at this site.

Some strong hard evidence for The Mark of the Beast

Doesn't make it incorrect to allegorize, though. Paul did it! And I believe there are principles which can guide figural readings of Scripture. And why do you keep speaking of the OT in terms of "prophets" or "prophetic" as if that is the only way the OT can speak about Jesus. You seem to hate...

    Revised Dispensationalism

2 things: 1) Resurrection and thus the age associated with it has begun. Jesus is the firstfruits of new creation via his resurrection 2) And the new birth is a spiritual resurrection. Our dead bodies have been quickened. We have been given new life. Spiritual breath has filled our souls. Our...

    The book of Revelation

For those interested... If you want to hear how an idealist preaches from Rev and not just chapters 2 & 3, I have a sermon that you might enjoy called "Victory in Revelation".

    For amillenial brothers....thoughts?

So your "literal" hermeneutic equates the reign of God w/ the person Jesus?

Some strong hard evidence for The Mark of the Beast

I fail to see the distinction. Paul applied an allegory to patriarchs (and matriarchs) to make a spiritual point. Are you saying that method is illegitimate?

    Revised Dispensationalism

The age that you keep referring to was also described in terms of resurrection. Thus when resurrection begun, that age of life begun. And that is why the prophets (and the rest of the OT) find their yes in Jesus. We are living in the "last days" and have been for 2,000 years. We are the...

    Revised Dispensationalism

It doesn't have to be fully realized for it to begin. The resurrection was the beginning of new creation. At one time, it was believed to happen all at the same time. But Jesus' resurrection blew that out of the water. God is reigning here, but his rule is yet to be fully consummated. Jesus did...

    The book of Revelation

And you get all that from your literal hermeneutic of that verse?

    The book of Revelation

So Paul was lying when he said we were seated w/ Jesus in the heavenlies?
  18. Greektim

    Revised Dispensationalism

Yes... although you could call it various things. I'd opt for a biblical term like the "reign of God."

    Do you love Jesus?

Funny you mention eschatology, b/c Walvoord does a good job of weaving in eschatology w/ Christology. While I disagree of course w/ his eschatology, he made the astute point that at the center of eschatology is Jesus... thus christology. At the time I read it, I was the uber-dispie and it...

Some strong hard evidence for The Mark of the Beast

Guess that makes Paul wicked when he used allegory in Galatians. Then again, he was the chief of sinners.
