    Women pastors

For those who object to them, what is your basis for doing so? The words of Paul? As a result of the Fall and Eve's part in it? Because Adam was created first? All of these? More?

    Victorious Christ - Atonement

Can't wait for this one to get started good. :) Were it not for this atonement view, and the knowledge that it was the original view, I could not have remained a Christian. I will always be thankful to the EOC for preserving this most ancient atonement doctrine, and for the Anabaptist teaching...

Durham proves Trump was spied on

If they allow the Dems to use some new crisis to let people use mass mail-in votes again and don't do anything to stop it, or actually assist in it, as they did before (as in Georgia), they'll lose again.

    Luther vs. Calvin, and Baptists

I consider myself a student of church history. For quite a while, I have wondered why Baptists were influenced more by Calvin than by Luther. While I don't believe either was that close to the NT, I believe Luther was much more so than Calvin. Could it be because early Baptists in England had...

Baptism method and meaning across denominations

The truth is just the opposite of what you posted (that I highlighted in bold). The problem with your quotes is that they all come from the third century, not the NT or early thereafter. In the NT, the prerequisite for baptism was always belief. Even the Didache suggests that, also. Infant...

Durham proves Trump was spied on

The 2020 election might be over, but if criminal acts were committed, something needs to be done about it, and something could be done if anyone had the guts and conviction. Further, if Republicans don't do something to stop the massive mail-in balloting and poll-place shenanigans, they will get...

Durham proves Trump was spied on

Will Republicans in Congress be moved to say anything about this? Or do anything? And what about 2020 election fraud? Democrats and the Deep State couldn't get away with their criminal acts if Republicans would stand up and DO something!

    What other denominations

I must say I'm delighted there is a sub-forum here for "Other Christian Denominations". I wouldn't have been able to participate otherwise. I've enjoyed my time here; the experience has been valuable to me. I hope this sub-forum is not eliminated. Of course, if I become Baptist, I would be able...

    What other denominations

Thank you for your kind, reasonable, and Christlike response. A personal note: Since I've been here, I've read quite a lot of your posts, and, while I do have disagreements with you, I don't find your manner disagreeable.

Salty, what is a 2.5 Calvinist? Don't believe I've heard that before. :)

    What other denominations

Thanks, yes, I would like to know what kinds of Baptists are here -- if the list is not too long. :)

    What other denominations

I think you've got a healthy attitude. I, too, have attended many different denominations since I left Orthodoxy. Moving from the big city to this very rural outpost has made that somewhat more difficult since more miles are involved, but there are still a lot of churches dotting the countryside...

Good. Now that you are braced for it.... :)

    What other denominations

Get ready for some heat. Not all Baptists are "nice". But the same goes for all other denominations, too. I have participated on forums of different brands of Christianity and encountered some people claiming to be Christians whose fruit was, shall I say, "suspect".

    What other denominations

The Orthodox don't quite share the same belief, preferring to maintain the Eucharist as "Mystery" rather than seek to define it rationally, as those in the West do -- whether RC or Protestant.

Baptism method and meaning across denominations

Actually, there is not one instance of infant baptism in the NT or early church, including the Didache. Thus, infant baptism is a mere "tradition of men".

    What other denominations

Thanks, but I rejected the RCC long ago. I don't find the soteriology of EOC and RCC to be similar.

Welcome! Thanks for replying. I'm "officially" Eastern Orthodox but have actually left that church and looking for another.

The Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement

And that is one more danger of PSA and other similar theories. It compartmentalizes and isolates the atonement from the incarnation and resurrection.

The Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement

For those who contend that various Church Fathers taught PSA: Besides the links that I have already posted that refute this claim, I'll add this to also prove otherwise: The official teaching of the church for the first 1000 years -- East and West, Greek and Latin -- was Ransom/Christus...
