IF Once Were Arminist, What verse(s) Forced You To calvinism?

Rom 3:10-18 This passage forced me to see man as totally depraved and incapable of believing w/out God's intervention through regeneration.

    Understanding Galatians 1:15-16

Here is a challenge for you then. Explain what a Calvinist means by "irresistible grace." If you don't like strawmen (which that was a weak fall-back btw), then demonstrate how you are able to avoid them yourself.

    Understanding Galatians 1:15-16

Wow... a post-ascension resurrection appearance of Jesus was described with words like "startling" and then explained to be nothing more than for the purpose of "Paul to reconsider." For Paul to "reconsider" means that he had already considered Jesus. Not sure that the text even indicates as...

What are the Benefits to a DMin Program?

Coming back to the OPer... Sib, do you have a specialization you wanted to get? For instance, SEBTS has some cool DMin classes and programs. The applied theology has many different concentrations like preaching and leadership. Did you want a specific focus or just a general ministerial degree?

how can calvinism be "the Gospel?" isn't Tjat Jesus And the Cross/Resurrection?

I disagree. I believe the "Gospel" in a nutshell is this: Gal 3:8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." The Gospel is God blessing the nations. ;)

is Satan Able To Blind Sinners To the Gospel?

Wow... so instead of allowing Scripture to fortify your view (a strange one at that), you'll allow your philosophical theologizing be the determining factor? How's that working out for you?

What are the Benefits to a DMin Program?

To gain a pastoral position in a large church. To get your resume read by larger churches... some won't even consider you unless you have a doctorate.

What Does It mean "MANY are called but FEW are chosen?"

What does it mean? That Calvinism is right  ;)

how can calvinism be "the Gospel?" isn't Tjat Jesus And the Cross/Resurrection?

Is the Gospel restricted to the simple truths of 1 Cor. 15:1-4ff.??? How about when Paul refers to Gen. 12:3 as the Gospel (cf. Gal. 3:8)? How about when Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom in Mark 1:14-15 which was about repentance and faith in God's rule not the cross/resurrection...

    Scoping the Text

Hold on hold on hold on Your argument is that your prooftext outweighs mine? "I provided a text..." WELL SO DID I! Plus... you didn't argue your text. You just assumed its meaning. And you do a great injustice to the text when you assume "convict" = "convince" as though it is obvious...

    Scoping the Text

Really??? How about 2 Cor. 4:4 - In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. Pretty clear... all unbelievers are blinded not b/c they choose to be or simply love...

Did Jesus "Spititual Die"While On The Cross?

Yeah... who needs to use context to interpret Scripture anyways? Sin doesn't fit my theology so I must change it to mean something else--sin offering. Problem solved. The context is clear. His righteousness was transfered or imputed to us. Our sin was transfered or imputed to him. Just...

    KJV Anniversary

So it is old and widely purchased/used. That makes it the best? I think the Catholics said the same thing about the Vulgate. If that line of thinking didn't work then, why should it work now?

    Questions on Spanish Translations

What are they? What are their base texts? What are their translational philosophy? Which would be the best? Which would be the best for someone learning Spanish?

What is the Difference between Amil and postmil Theology?

I really see it as kissing cousins of one another. The major difference is that postmil is optimistic about the time time leading up to Christ's return (the golden age mentioned above) whereas amil is a bit more pessimistic. This is of course an oversimplistic explanation. But it gives you an...
