Doesn;t the Bible Teach Regeneration/faith Happens At Same Time In Life Of Christian?

Definitely one way to allegorize that story for your soteriological purpose. But you could also argue that Noah found grace in the eyes of God. With that in mind, seems Noah's salvation was preceded by God's election and was conditioned on God's choice and unconditional on the part of Noah...

    Can I learn Greek?

Give us a price range... that might help. Also... do you have a denominational preference? Here is another option that I would recomend from my mentor. Here's Dr. Black in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGFADaCSxj8&feature=player_embedded

    Can I learn Greek?

I completely agree with this statement... well said. Exegesis is more than recognizing verb tense and word studies. The bulk of it is syntax, discourse analysis, and rhetorical/literary criticism. That is hard to get on your own.

    Can I learn Greek?

Mounce's textbook is standard, but I would recommend a classroom setting.

    Seriously considering SATS...

Teaching in a college/seminary would be nice, but God has only called a limited number of those types of people. He has, however, called every believer to be about the Great Commission. I want to use my PhD for ministry purposes above all else (even teaching nationals overseas).

    Seriously considering SATS...

I appreciate the perspective, Rhet. I have a heart for teaching, but more and more I see the "scholar" in the local church as a novelty. My true passion is for local church ministry and missions work. Thus there is an appeal to do a foreign PhD. I am hoping that it will open doors for...

    Koinonia House

I am being EXTREMELY sarcastic. I believe preachinjesus is too, but I could be mistaken. Wouldn't give this school one consideration.

This class looks like a winner :tonofbricks: BTE620: Intro to Biblical Cryptology (2 credits) Introduction to Cryptography (the study of secret writing) details astonishing hidden messages within the text of the Torah that could only have been placed there by the Great Author Himself...

    Jesus on the cross?

So convicted1 has Thayer, does some word studies, and has presented "clearly" what is so obvious??? Wow... 2 passages (when only one could do) 1 Pet 1:20; 2:4, 6 speaks of Christ being chosen (and yes that is what foreknowledge implies there in Peter) Eph 1:11 - In him we have obtained an...

    Top Ten Translations

If you don't have access to original languages, then how are you able judge one translation to another? Anywho... this is my list starting w/ #1, but it represents what I frequently read, not what I use in study (the HOT and GNT for that) 1) ISV 2) NKJV 3) NASB 4) ESV 5) NIV 6) NET 7) HCSB

    New Degree Programs? Why? Needed?

I'd say that most SBC seminaries have this in place. If you want both the relevant ministry training classes as well as rigorous academic training, then you could simply load up on ministry in the MDiv and then load up the academic stuff in the ThM. If people want both, they have only but to...

    Matthew 1:17

Some find significance in the number "14" as it adds up to the name "David". That is speculation, but it sounds cool, especially in light of Matt. 1:1

Matthew 16:19, On Earth or in Heaven first?

There is not a 1:1 equivalent for the grammatical construction. You have a periphrastic construction which indicates a future perfect scenario (only here in Matt. 16:19???). "Shall be" brings out the future whereas "having/have been bound/loosed" brings out the perfect. Thus the NET opted for...

Lousiana (Baptist) College and New Seminary

Will it be a SBC school? Or just a Baptist affiliated school? Would it really be a SBC school with NOBTS down the road??? Seems kinda weird.

    Lordship Salvation vs Free Grace
