Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

Right - "will be changed", as in "we will have new bodies". My apologies. I was looking at the wrong passage. Regardless, this was still a specific message to that church. It is interesting that this church is still around, though. Guess God really meant it when He was protecting them...

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

If you read those passages from 1 Corinthians 15 and 2 Thessalonians 4 in context, you will see these are about our resurrected bodies. Revelation 3:8-11 is addressed specifically to Smyrna, the persecuted church. Jesus promised a special protection for them. The Jewish Wars which culminated...

Well-documented material at the link. Thank you.

Actually, Josephus wrote of all the events that Jesus spoke of in the Olivet Discourse. So, my answer would have to be Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13. My apologies for the "broad" answer, but that's as narrow as I can make it.

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

Here is a link with his history of the first Jewish revolt against Rome - The Chronology of the First Jewish Revolt According to Josephus. Section 7 (at the bottom) is very specific about the siege and destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70.

Exactly! That is the same thing. With all due respect, Josephus and others have provided the evidence. There will not be a rapture. I have learned much from Gentry, DeMar, and other Preterists, but I've also followed the Bereans' example and studied whether those things that these men teach...

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

While Jesus wasn't seen, His judgment was clearly seen in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Without a future 3rd temple, the AOD happened when the Roman army desecrated the Herodian temple. A new temple would be required for your version of prophecy to be fulfilled. History shows...

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

I can appreciate the humor with being 73 and not looking a day over 80, and will borrow that at some point. On to serious topics, though. Whether you think our answers are correct or not, you keep saying that we can't answer. The point is that we have answered. To interpret a symbolic...

Not to speak for @kyredneck, but you do realize we have answered your questions many times. It's okay that you disagree with our views, but you keep acting as if we had never answered your questions. The fact that you disagree doesn't mean we can't or haven't answered these questions.

Not so many years ago, I was in complete agreement with you. Fortunately for all of us, our views on eschatology do not affect our salvation.

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

Funny, that is exactly what I think of "futurist" views of eschatology. Presuppositions are built into the views of those who follow this view, clouding what should be a clear interpretation. What you see as several dispensations I see as different eras. We have two dispensations - the old...

Is the Land of Israel Still a Special Place to God?

After reading and re-reading Deuteronomy 11:11-12, all I see is that God took special care of the land that Israel was to possess, and it was superior to Egypt.

Is the Land of Israel Still a Special Place to God?

Nothing to do with this specific thread, but a technical question. When I click the links for Bible verses, the verses appear behind everything else, making them impossible to read. Who do we contact to address problems like this?

Is the Land of Israel Still a Special Place to God?

Is this one of those "do you still beat your wife" questions? What Christian denies the Word of God? Based on my understand of Scripture, I see no reason that the land of Israel is any more special to God than any other land.

Shall We Gather At The River???

I was baptized in a creek that was near the store front church that I attended. We were too small to have a baptistry, and too poor to afford the white robes you see so often. I remember that the water was cold that September day in northern Arkansas. Most churches that I've ever attended are...

Is the Land of Israel Still a Special Place to God?

I believe too many people get caught up in the land that God promised than in the God Who promised the land to Israel. There is only one people of God, which are those who place their faith in Christ Jesus. God didn't break their covenant, but Israel did.

    Advent Season

Yes. Every year our pastor puts a lot of emphasis on Advent. A different family lights one of the candles every week. Yes, in the sanctuary. It also goes up at the beginning of Advent. The kids always put on a Christmas play centered around Luke's gospel. Santa does not have a part in the...

Fake Eschatology, continued from previous thread

If we are going with definitions, my first example for fake eschatology would be any "futurist" view, and especially Dispensationalism. IMHO, Partial Preterism is the only correct view of the "end times".

    Make believe Eschatology

Based on the use of "this generation" instead of "that generation", either the prophecies of the Olivet Discourse have come to pass or Jesus was wrong. The 1 Corinthians reference is "apples to oranges".
