The Poll about the Death Penalty -

Believers never used violence to defend themselves under the New Covenant.. You are adding to scripture to say they did. What makes more sense? As a believer sacrificing your life to Christ's teaching about nonviolence? Wearing a martyr's crown forever. And Enjoying an honorable escape from this...

The Poll about the Death Penalty -

No, the magistrate is ordained of God to kill those deserving of death. But you violate Christ's teaching if you are a believer and assume the magistrate's role.

The Poll about the Death Penalty -

“So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the...

The Poll about the Death Penalty -

“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in...

    The Lamb of God?

Which world did the Lamb take away the sins for? If you wish, as you lift your eyes to the far horizon of the future, to see looming on the edge of time the glory of a saved world, you can find warrant for so great a vision only in the high principles that it is God and God alone who saves...

    Death Penalty: My view

Which question are you pointing to? Capital Punishment - Yes. Christians serving as the civil magistrate - No. Self-defense using violence or deadly force as a Christian - No.

    Death Penalty: My view

Yes. But it's not my calling to bear the sword. It belongs to the magistrate who cannot follow Christ's teachings in that capacity.

    Death Penalty: My view

God controls all things, even child abusers. But it is not your calling to kill anyone no matter the reason. It's the magistrate's duty.

    Death Penalty: My view

Are you willing to die, not defending yourself instead of using deadly force, or even for your family by upholding Christ's teachings about non-violence? Only a few can do this.

    OSAS made simple

OSAS means I can never do anything bad enough to cancel my salvation. King David shows this in his horrible sin involving Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah. His wood, hay, and stubble works expired, but his salvation remained unaffected. It's nice knowing this because it focuses me on Christ's...

    Death Penalty: My view

How does all the vigilante "justice" by Christians hold up to Jesus' teaching about loving enemies, non-resistance of evil, turning the other cheek, etc?
  19. 1689Dave

    Death Penalty: My view

That reminds me of a claim I've made concerning "Christians" I've been around. It's "I've been treated the worst by the best". If it wasn't for Christ in my heart, I'd thrown in the sponge a long time ago.
